Greetings, Cuzzin Cecil!
I'm not sure I agree with you about being a 'Democratic dumbdom of strife and oppression' since I tend to lean to the left (I'm a registered Independent), and I know you wrote this 6 years ago, but I still thought this was good!
And as insane and unlikely as some of these ideas may seem, you still made some really valid points! To put it simply, there's just way too much B.S. that our government doesn't need! One government watchdog group watches another government watchdog group who watches another one, and on and on until nobody knows what or what they watching in the first place!
It's a total mess! And to think you wrote this back in 2013, I'm sure you know what's happening now! Investigators are investigating the investigators! *Shock2* *Crazy*
Well done, my friend!
Comments and suggestions:
'mass mugging would be stopped dead in it's tracks' (its)
'smooth out "hump day(")'
'saynayer' and 'yaysayer'? *Laugh*

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

Season's greetings, Kyle Rossman!
For your 1st piece on here, I thought this was purty darn good!
I'm a major NFL fan, so I found this essay very interesting, if not humorous as well!
I agree that American Football (and major sports in general) isn't what it used to be, in a lot more ways than one! It's all money, money, money now! Hell, I just heard that Gerrit Cole will be making more than $9,000 per PITCH now that he's been traded from the Astros to the Yankees!
And football is the same way with all their corporate sponsors!
Yes, I know you wrote a lot of this tongue-in-cheek, but your points are valid. As for what happens to most of those teams you mentioned, I could care less! I'm just glad you didn't mention my beloved San Francisco 49ers, who by the way, are 11 and 2 right now after coming off a 4 and 12 season just a year ago! (And don't you dare make some comment about them being the 'Forty Whiners' either, or I'll never review you again as long as you live!) *Bigsmile*
Great job, Kyle! From one sports fan to another, I commend both you and this piece! Heck, I think you could even get it published somewhere! Seriously!
One suggestion: are you sure you don't mean the 'Lambs' instead of the 'Lams'?
On a side note, I understand your 'reflection' on writing this piece. It's always easier to write something you're really interested in and care about instead of something that bores you to death. And you did an excellent job, my friend! The spelling and grammar was flawless, and the whole piece read smoothly and professionally!
Kee ponw ritin gon, thanks for sharing this, and welcome to WdC! If you like to write, then you're going to love it here!
PS-You might want to get your bioblock (biography) set up so we can know a little something about you (hobbies, favorite books/authors, location, etc.), but that's up to you, of course.

Hello there, Emma!
This is funny, and I like the way you told it. At first I was thinking it was a mouse or a rat you were scared of, which would be totally understandable, but after leading us down that road, you ended this with that surprise/twisted ending of this frightening creature being just a Chihuahua! *Laugh*
Well done, my friend!
On a side note, I was raised around Great Danes (gentle giants!), and my father always said he'd never own a dog that he'd have to bend over to pet! *Laugh*

Hello there, Lady Hamdan!
This isn't bad. I don't know how old you were when you wrote this, but I think you're in your teens since you have such interest and liking for Pink. You consider her to be your mentor, and although I don't know that much about her, she seems to have some good values from you say.
But what I like about this is that you don't want to be a singer just because she's a singer, but you'd just like to have the same principals and attributes as she does.
Well done, my friend!

Greetings, Victor!
This isn't bad. I love me a good werewolf story, and you delivered with this!
I like the idea of this couple being suckered into this stranger's trap so he could (supposedly?) feed his pet/friend, and the fact that the stranger also had green eyes apparently made him a WW as well. I'm guessing that one 'turned' before the other, right?
Great spelling and grammar, but it was that last line that made this shine. At least they'll both have a good dinner tonight! *Smirk2* *Laugh*
Just a darn shame that Michael didn't listen to his wife's warning about not opening the door! *Shock2*
A couple of tiny niggles:
"I thought it was a hungry cat, but then I was its eyes." (saw?)
"All I want to do it go..." (is?)
Otherwise, well done, and nice job with the prompt phrase!
Kee ponw ritin gon, Victor, and I'm glad you managed to enter this today! I hope to see more of entries in the future!

Season's greetings, Laineybae!
This is a little different for your first piece on here, but there's nothing wrong with that! At least you're writing something (and quite well, may I add-the spelling and grammar was flawless-thank you!-and the whole piece read smoothly and professionally!).
I've never lived on a college campus, but I'm glad you managed to be welcomed as you were. Some people, myself included, might be a bit reluctant and/or scared to be on their own and in a new place like that, but you seemed to adjust quite nicely. Greetings, MatthewMW!
This is a nice little essay about the advantages of what technology has done for us, both young and old, and I agree with most of what you say.
However, I don't believe that it's brought us closer! Granted we can keep up with each other and 'like' all we want with a just a few taps of our fingers, but people aren't really 'talking' to each other anymore. I'm 54, so I'm not quite 'over the hill' yet, but I miss the days when people, especially relatives, would talk to each other face to face instead of looking at them on a screen! It's not even close to actually being there! Yes, I know they said the internet would bring us closer, but I just don't see it! There's nothing like physically being with someone you truly love!
Nicely done, though! The spelling and grammar was flawless, and you made some very valid points! My only suggestion would be to put this in a larger font to make it easier to read. Not all of us have 20/20 vision!

Season's greetings, GU35T!
For one of your 1st pieces on here, I thought this was pretty good, and you did a good job of telling it!
I like the idea of this young man having something he feels is more than desirable than the things he doesn't have, or can't have, and what better could that be than a pet! Or in this case, a 'companion' who is always there for him, 'no matter what the weather was or what time of day it was'!
Well done, my friend, but I'm a little confused about the 'button' and the 'rough paper' that crossed his palm. I'm thinking the button might be a the dog's nose (if indeed it IS a dog!), but the paper kind of threw me.

Season's greetings, Ironworker156 (aka Dayna)!
This isn't bad for a quick FF piece. I like the idea of this Roland character trying to pull this sneaky deception off on his partners, but he obviously wasn't as clever as they were! I'd hate be in his shoes with the 3 of them staring at him and waiting for his story! *Shock2*
Great spelling and telling, but it kind of felt a little stiff, at least to me. I don't know if it was the words you used or the way you used them, but it seemed forced, if you know what I mean. But that's just my own humble opinion, for what that's worth!

Season's greetings, Connieann, and happy 11th 'birthday' on here!
This is a neat 'feel good' piece, and I really enjoyed it! I don't know if you the meteorite or a rock was a prompt for this, or if you just came up with this idea off the top of your head, but it worked splendidly, and you did an excellent job of telling it.
I like the way you built this up with Joey's head wound miraculously healing and his folks not believing his story. Frankly, I probably wouldn't have either, but good 'ol Gramma wasn't going to doubt him!
I'm wondering if maybe Joey had a subconscious wish (in addition to the one about not being late for supper, which sadly didn't come true) for his Gramma's arthritis to heal?
Regardless, it was neat little story, and I'm glad I found it, especially during this time of the year!
On a side note, I see that you submitted this for publication. Was it accepted? If not, I'm sure there's plenty of other pubs that would love to have it!

Greetings, Cynaemon, and happy 16th 'birthday' on here!
This is a nice little tribute to a young and good friend of yours, and I'm so sorry to you had to experience a loss like that at such an age. I wasn't old enough to go Vietnam, having been born in 1965, but I had a brother who went over there and was wounded.
You did a really good job of writing this, as well as showing how stunned and saddened you were when your principal announced that sad news to you.

This is pretty good. I'm surprised it didn't win (or at least tie) in The Writer's Cramp!
You did a great job of showing how crazy holiday shopping can be, especially if you put it off to the very last minute, and then having your husband (whose intentions were good, I suppose) texting you with idea of what to get the children only added to your befuddlement!
But at least everything worked out in the end, and a lot better than either you or I imagined they would!
Flawless spelling and grammar, and everybody lived happily ever after!

THIS IS A WDC SUPERPOWER REVIEWERS RAID REVIEW!

Season's greetings, Maryann!
I'm no poetry expert, but for such a short little poem (yeah, I know it's an acrostic!), I thought this was pretty good.
I grew up (for 11 years anyway) in Anchorage, AK, so I know all too well about old man winter! I remember icicles hanging all the way from the eaves to the ground, like bars in a jail, and going to school during the winter in the dark and coming home in the dark. But for 3 months in the summer, it didn't get dark at all! The sun went over the horizon, but that was it. Cars didn't even have to use their headlights!
Sorry, I digress. Gotta little nostalgic and sentimental there for a second when I read that line about the icicles!
But hey, maybe that's what this piece should do: make people think about their own past winters and the fun they had with their family!
Well done, Maryann! That snow globe was a nice touch, but since this is about winter, wouldn't she be a little chilly wearing that dress? *Laugh*

Greetings, Jatog!
I thought this was pretty good! I don't quite understand the form (shape) you put it in, but that's irrelevant since it's the substance that really matters.
I like how you used the contrast of summer and winter to show your (and mine!) appreciation for each of them. It's like you can't have good without bad, and each of those season both have their good points and bad points.
Summer: too hot, droughts, floods/swimming, hiking, being outside and enjoying the outdoors...
Winter: too cold, blizzards, black ice and car accidents/snowball fights, a nice warm fire to cuddle up to, skiing...
I also like that ending with the white horses in the snow, too hard to see. The beauty is right before our eyes, yet we still can't see it.
Well done, my friend! I don't know how this did in The Cramp, but it looks like a winner to me!

Hi, Teresa!
After our little chat last night about our pooches, I happened to find this in your port this morning, and I love it! As I said, Bru was the best dog I ever had, but the odd thing is I always had (and was raised around) Great Danes. Bru just had his own personality and we were like two peas in a pod.
I love this picture! Bru also loved to go for rides, so when he was getting up there in years I made ramp out of an old door so he could still get into the back of my pick up.
You know what's even neater? Other than the white belly and paws (and that glowing eye *Laugh*), Gunner strikes a remarkable resemblance to Bru! Even upside down! *Laugh*
Thanks for sharing this pic, Teresa, not to mention bringing back some terrific memories!

Greetings, Legerdemain!
This is nice, and I love the personification you gave to this tiny snowflake! Granted it has its sad moments as the last snowflake of winter watches her sisters melt, but on the flip side, they’re also nurturing the earth that will in turn give life to the beautiful pink petals of the cherry blossoms that will remind us of why they fell to earth to begin with.
Damn! Did I just write that? *Shock*
Seriously though, some of those words and terms you used were golden (ice-sisters! *Thumbsupl*), and that title couldn’t have been any better!
And this was very deserving of that ribbon!
Kind of makes me wonder if I took for granted where I was born and raised up in Alaska!

Hi there, Busman Poet!
I like the idea behind this, and I know all too well about seeing animals outside in the cold. Whether this is a real experience of your own or not, I can tell you’re an animal lover, as I am, which makes that ending a little sad. Just a week ago I was walking home on a freezing night when I heard a faint ‘meow’ coming from the porch of a business. My curiosity got the best of me, and when I looked for the source of the noise I found a young kitten sitting among some plants. I tried to coax it to come to me so I could at least get it out of the cold, but like your momma cat, it too scurried away. *Sad*
But who in their right mind would have left a little kitten by itself on business porch in the middle of large city on a freezing night? *Angry*
As for the poem itself, it wasn’t bad. I’m no expert on poetry, but a couple of the stanzas seemed a little bumpy syllable-wise. The rhyming seemed pretty good though, and hopefully it will raise some awareness about how animals are mistreated!

Hello there, Nowahwayy.
I've reviewed you before, but that doesn't mean I know anything more about you (other than you're an 18 year-ol poet) since you still haven't set up your bio yet. But you do seem to be preoccupied with death.
I've read a lot of stories by newbies on here who have written practically the same thing you have here, and it always worries me because I don't know if they're writing fiction or they're serious about this subject. I can only pray that this is only fiction!
But if it isn't, just know there are people who care about you, and you have a full life yet to live. You're young, and no matter how dark it might seem right now, things do and will get better!
Trust me! I'm 54, and I've been there, done that!
Kee ponw ritin gon, my friend, and once again welcome to WdC!
PS-You really should get that bio set up so we can at least something more about you!

THIS IS A WDC SUPERPOWER REVIEWERS RAID REVIEW!

Greetings, Marcus!
I'm no expert on poetry, nor do I know what style this is, but I thought it was pretty good.
I like the idea of this soldier letting people know that if he died while fighting for his king and the North that he did it with honor and his fight was not for nothing.
It reminds me of all those people who died while doing this very same thing way back in the medieval times, knowing full well that they were going to their deaths in a battle that was pretty much hand to hand combat!
The rhyming and the meter seemed to be pretty good, and it did make me think!

Hello there, Kieran!
This isn't bad. At first I was going to say it sounded a little simple, but after seeing that you wrote it as a children's story, it actually worked quite well.
Nice idea of using the repetition, and the spelling was also good. My only concern would be having the two women in a relationship like that.
NOW STOP! I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, nothing at all! Live And Let Live is my motto! I'm only pointing it out because a young child might not understand that concept. Do you see what I mean?
Besides, that's only a suggestion, and I'm in no way telling you how to write your stories. I just wanted to point that out!
Otherwise, good job!
Kee ponw ritin gon, Kieran! Thanks for sharing this, have a wonderful day/night/tomorrow, and...

Hi, Tracey!
I like this, and it's not just a simple parody of that famous poem, but also a nice tribute to this incredible writing site we've all managed to find and share!
The meter was good, as was the rhyming, and I like the idea of this large man leaving GPs in our stockings! But it's the feeling this gives off more than anything, at least to me. I've been on here for almost 9 years, and never in my wildest dreams would I ever have imagined meeting all these incredible people and authors that I've met here if it weren't my daughter telling me 'about some writing site you might be interested in' in a text message all those years ago!
I know I've never actually met any of you, but I feel like you and the members I know are like family! I can't believe how close we are, and that's something that I'll never forget! The StoryMaster and The StoryMistress have brought tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people together to share their dreams with each other, and that's something that shouldn't be taken too lightly!
Great job, Tracey! And congratulations on that 1st place ribbon!

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

Hello, Mritika.
I've read and reviewed several of these Dear Mom Letters, and it always amazes me how different and unique each writer is with their letter! And this one is no different!
Your English is a little bit off (broken, I guess), but I'm only reviewing this on substance, not grammar or spelling or anything else. I like how you used the repetition of Dear Mom and I wish in each 'stanza' until that final one where you tell your Mom that you surely will meet again one day. And telling her that she'll be proud of you once again was nice, but I don't think you needed to tell her that.
I'm sure she's already proud of you after reading this!
Well done, my friend!
Kee pon writin gon, Mritika, and welcome to WdC! If you like to write, then you're going to love it here!

Review of Flavor Stain

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

Greetings, PD!
Although I not at all familiar with where this took place (cuz I'm too lazy to look it up *Blush*), I like how you told this! And I can completely understand why you'd cherish something as simple as a small stain for what you went though to get it!
I do love duck though, and this 'shabdeg' meal doesn't sound too bad. But since I'm on the other side of the world, and considering everything YOU had to go through to get it (and you were practically right there!), I don't think I'll be trying any of this Kashmiri delicacy any time soon! *Bigsmile*
It's kind of funny how something as simple as a small stain can bring back such vivid memories like that, huh? Just by looking at it you can remember people, places, tastes, and heck, even smells!
Well done, my friend!
