Blunt. I don't review often, mostly because people tend to not like how honest I tend to be. I will tell you things like, "Your main character is a blank slate, I can't convince myself to care about him." Or "I have no idea what that even was, I would suggest an entire rewrite." Side note: If you write fiction, I like a character driven story. Make me care about your characters, and I'll follow their story wherever it goes.
I'm good at...
I'm decent at finding SPAG (just not in my own writings). I'm better at being honest about whether I think the writing is any good. If you just want someone to say "I enjoyed that" or "I have no idea what I just read" I'm happy to do that.
Favorite Genres
In fiction, I like some fantasy, mystery and even sci-fi... but I mostly enjoy reading non-fiction. History, biology, ecology, and animal behavior are some of my favorite topics.
Favorite Item Types
Character driven stories in fiction. History, or science in non-fiction.
I will not review...
Anything involving witchcraft, the occult, or anything with a rating over ASR.

Review of Solar rider  Open in new Window.

I'm not a great poet myself, so please take my review with a grain of salt :)

Overall, I liked it. Strong voice, good choice of words, and for the most part it flows nicely.

There are just two lines that seem to break the rhythm when I'm reading, and I'm honestly not sure why.

Voices begged me to quit, to turn back, to yield—
But I held my ground, I refused to leave the field.

I rose. I endured. I would not break.
My strength was mine alone to make.

It was an enjoyable read overall.
Have fun on your writing adventure!

Not bad, just lacking subtlety. Personally, I like the stories that don't tell me what lesson I should've learned. I would be tempted to call this an Aesop style fable, it's short and states it's moral.

If you'd be interested in fleshing this out, just a little, I think you could make it a much more engaging read. (Maybe something more akin to a Hans Christian Andersen tale.) As is, it serves it's purpose, and I have no serious critiques.

Very easy read, and on a topic I'm certainly familiar with! I'll have an idea, and be so excited to start writing and then... well, here's another idea, and it doesn't fit with the previous one. I'll just write that down separately. Before I know it, I have twenty pages of new ideas, and not a full chapter among them. It's frustrating, but also part of the fun.

I like the flow and voice, and feel I would gladly read a short story or novel from the author. It felt like I was reading a letter from a friend. No major grammatical or spelling errors caught my attention, but that's not my specialty.

Honestly, it's nice to know I'm not alone. To know that we all get stuck in "idea mode" is comforting somehow.

I hope you find a character (or two) who takes you on an adventure you can write down, start to finish.
