My family are grown..I waited to have my grand babies around, I have five but for years my daughters moved out of the country and I didn't have them around. I just read your poem and it made me sad. To many people treat people by putting them down. This shouldn't be. A true friend would have respect and be happy if you excelled and did well in things. I enjoyed your short story. I use to use soap on my children when they swore. I never left it in their mouths, for any more than 2 minutes. Three boys what a delight they must bring. I can feel thee love you have for them in each word of the poem you wrote to them. Your beginning is solid. I can smell the Thanksgiving dinner cooking. Turkey does have a wonderful aroma.
Your plot is well developed as you tell us about your Aunt Betty and Uncle Jim along with their little five year old son arriving for dinner. How happy Eddy's family must have been to see him eat and enjoying turkey.
Closing: very shocking and sad. How terrible for the family for Eddied to choke and die. I think a eulogy is what people usually do to tell about the persons life during the funeral. A grave stone stands for all times in his memory. Neither takes the sadness and pain away.

You have painted a wonderful picture of the sea,using only your words. I can see in vivid details the children playing and having fun. How pretty the water must be with the sun shining down on it. I enjoyed my read here. I have came face to face with a rat before and I was the one the most scared not the rat. Yet I know that it had a look of fear as it scurried away from me. Depression is a disease that plagues so many people.It doesn't matter who or what age it effects. I like the essay that you wrote, it is heart breaking.and you are open and honest. I am sorry you feel like this. I agree unless a person has or is going through depression, they don't understand. So often it is caused by a physical disease..such as diabetics. The second thing I have seen many can see no way out of their situations they are in. Writing can and does help..Keep writing. .
