Provided within your words is a definition of what the orange rose could or should mean to those who see it, receive it, or enjoy its beautiful colour. You provide meaning that could be utilized, a recommendation to explore, and a message to all in the turbulent world we currently live in.

Suggestion: Two people in love provide security in a relationship of
tranquility and trust.

Review of A Red Rose for a Ring

Review by gresylMail Icon
Rated: E | (5.0)

This story led to suspense and a much deeper meaning for an object once given as a gift. Your attention to the characters' thoughts and feelings was of true form and presented well. Your dialogue was appropriate and informative for the course of action that Mary would eventually take. I enjoyed how this story read, providing an answer to one question, adding detail to yet another as the plot continued. The story was captivating and a pleasure to read.

Suggestion: The 3 red words could be spelled differently, but that would be based on the country your language is from, as they all have different spellings between the UK, USA, and CDN

She retrieved her jewellry box from its hidden security spot and flipped the lid.
• UK Jewellery
• US jewelry
• CDN either jewellery or jewelry both are accepted

Realizing that the best form of defense was a good offense, he puffed out his chest and looked affronted.
• UK defence - offence
• US offense - defense
• CDN defence – offence

This was carefully crafted, with attention not only to the meaning behind the importance of Ma, but also to her children and the perils of life. This version of speech expressing Black Culture was readable, but the true essence of what has been written requires a second, if not a third, read to catch all the hints within a reality of which so many have been a party to or suffered from.

Review of Governance Annulment.

Review by gresylMail Icon
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
What an impactful story you have created. Where men were fully in charge, and women were relegated to being emotional and sensitive. A complete turnaround, where the women were organized, intuitive, and got things done peacefully, except for the disintegration of the male spirit and soul.

Your words were articulate and frankly truthful to a fault. But a fantasy nonetheless, as men will never give up the throne, and women will never become leaders allowed to dictate how the world should be. However, neither should discredit the other, as together they would be that much more powerful and achieve so much more.

Your use of the prompt was extremely well done. I enjoyed reading your story, and trust many more will as well.

From one scammer to another, poor Uncle Frank is willing to participate because something is better than nothing. A funny story of sorts; the dialogue was well done. The ghost bear sighting was a bit tough to swallow.

Review of New Becomes Old

I couldn't help but immediately think of 'The strings that bind you'. Lena's character was earmarked for a life of luxury and success, but it did not fill her heart with pride or accomplishment. I like how you gave Lena not only a voice but a choice, and while the choice came with minor regrets, it also came with an emotional release, allowing her to be herself. Indeed, independence was a wonderful thing and the perfect conclusion to your story.

Review of Creature World

*Clipboard* .. Well, hello and welcome to WDC. I trust you will stay a while and enjoy your time here. Now on to your story.

Great opener; the visual was set up nicely with a captivating touch of suspense to keep the reader going. The more I read, the more invested I became.

I too had the same questions as Amira and wanted to know more.
Absolutely priceless line: “So…I’ll be…like…a pet?” and so well placed.

You describe each avenue of the scene with great detail that is useful and gives a vivid picture through the eyes of Amira.

A fair amount of mystery resides within these words, along with a touch of drama, and a good mix of sci-fi. A most enjoyable read. I do hope you will continue with this story.

Review of When you die don't worry about your body

Review by gresylMail Icon

Your words speak more truth than some will see. The items we cling to are nothing but junk or wasted space. Friends will move on to new friends. Family may or may not remember as your absence lingers on.

I agree with you right up to your last line; you don't even get to take what you gave, because the minute you gave it, it no longer belonged to you.

Review of Barrel

Review by gresylMail Icon
Rated: 18+ | (5.0)
The visual was almost perfectly clear. Was this a man or a woman? It could have been either. Although the barrel was the focus, you made it easy to see that it was a cause of stress for the person holding it tightly, contemplating whether to take their own life or allow what lay behind the door to do it for them. As mentioned, this was indeed a short, short story but executed well.

Creatively crafted, with an impactful set of words showing how much of ourselves is lost in a relationship to please the other.
The fact that you can say "I'm home" and truly be where you were meant to be all along, is a freedom like never before.

Review of Chalk Dust & Broomsticks, Chapter 2

Review by gresylMail Icon
Rated: E | (5.0)
Thank you for inviting me back to read this chapter. I value that you took the time to re-evaluate the reader's thoughts.
The chapter reads well; the characters have more life and flair, and the drama has been intensified. I see the explanations have been tweaked for better understanding, adding to the suspense. The staff's thoughts are now part of the story and will entice the reader to continue to find out what happens in the spring and whether Shirley was right with her assumption.

Review of Chalk Dust & Broomsticks, Chapter 2

Review by gresylMail Icon
Rated: E | (4.0)
*Clipboard* ..
This chapter filled the room with suspicion, doubt and massive fear. It is never easy to hear that combining two into one will be easy peasy.
While the dialogue and description were found in the lines written, there seemed to be something missing in this chapter.

Several new characters were introduced in a bare-bones fashion, with little reason for their inclusion beyond serving as department heads. Finding out in September that Mr. Blunt would be arriving in December seemed rushed, with no commentary on the preparation for his arrival, or the staff thoughts or conversation during the time they found out and he attended their meeting.

Other than a reference to the staff dreading an inspection. There were no details on what the inspection was or entailed, leaving the reader to wonder what circumstances could affect the staff and/or the students.

Adding to this might provide a little more drama and suspense, and engage the reader in the potential crisis this might cause the staff and/or the school. While Shirley revealed her thoughts, the start of they want it to fail seemed very vague: it was only one person's point of view.

Overall: this chapter did not add real substance to the story.

Review of Chalk Dust & Broomsticks, Chapter 1

I have stumbled upon an odd chapter of your book over the last couple of months and was entertained by your story and your writing. I figured it was time for me to start at the beginning to get the full value of your story.

September 1997: You paint an exceptional picture of the opening cast and the scene. The old Ms. Oggs, reliant on the sweet and efficient Shirley. The Dollhouse behind in the times, disintegrating with age, about to be reawakened with events and tales implied but not yet revealed.

She sat down at her desk, pushing aside a stack of 'Lost Property'
forMs
= not sure why the capital; I believe this should be [forms.]

The Heart of the Estate:
The devastation which surrounds the school is clearly visual with the use of description. The community is reliant on the school, which teaches their children, and provides service above and beyond. And then there is Shirley who lives close by but far enough to be in a totally different visual of another part of town. I like how you placed her in a cottage house backed by woodland, the perfect place to hide her secrets and practice her craft.

The little community centre, despite its threadbare
dor,
= could not find a reference for this word; should it be [door]

Overall, a very captivating first chapter which draws in the reader to learn more about Shirley, the dollhouse, and what magic transpires within the cottage.

This is so awesome and not only well done but very cleverly created. I would not have thought an extensive list of ingredients for writing could be so elegant and entice me to want more of the dish being served. I did indeed taste your culinary magic and enjoyed it very much.

Thoughts and words make the moment of realization within the lines of your poem. It shows the true meaning of losing oneself in the shadow of another, only to please someone and then be left behind, forgotten.

ofcorse you feel like you are in the slip stage
- I believe you meant to say
of course here
You also have quite a few instances where you have left a space between the word and the comma
- not certain if this was intentional or if a dash would have been better to use

Review of Missed Opportunity

Review by gresylMail Icon

There is heart and feeling within these words. A reflection of someone who passed before their time, or before one has the time to say goodbye. In my case, it resonates with the feeling of loss for one who is still alive but no longer has the mental capacity to accept the words being spoken.

Your interpretation makes sense to me. Not that I'm a Swiftie either, and definitely not a Hamlet fan. I agree the melody was good and the visual was captivating. I would not have thought the song to be a storytelling, but since you mention it, I can see where that becomes the case.

Review of An Unexpected Find

Review by gresylMail Icon

This was an interesting and captivating short story. Your use of description provided drama, excitement, mystery, and a great visual of the old house in a state of repair. The discovery of the painting, again described in full detail with added hope of potentially a way to finance future repairs, was cleverly placed into the fold.

This was an easy read, that is, until the last stanza, for me, it did not blend or match the previous two. Even after reading it more than once, nope still didn't seem like the right finish to the to the previous stanza, which were very good.

Review of Take This Job...

Review by gresylMail Icon

A neat heart-warming story, a dream most have, but never the opportunity to act on it. It brings to the point the reason most people quit there job is not because they don't enjoy their job, but rather the management drives staff out the door.

Review of Animal-Character Profile Template

Review by gresylMail Icon

I really like this version of the template that you have created. It is specific to Animal Characters, which is quite helpful for any writer bringing their animals to life within a story. Your key points are instructional and great for reference and follow-up.

I did notice a suggestion that you might want to adjust:
1. c. How you going to introduce the character into the story
This should read one of two ways:
How
are you going
How
your going

I stumbled on your item and was drawn to taking a look, as I had created one for characters back in 2001. After 25 years on the site and 17,000 views, I retired the original and created a more in-depth version. which I have referenced for the nano I am hosting in November.
"2026 NaNoWriMo Challenge meo. I believe your Animal Character template is an awesome tool, and I have added it to the list to help others prepare for the challenge.

Review of Playful Pets: Sweet Times

Review by gresylMail Icon

Nice rhyme and easy to read. You have provided the thought in a true form of what it is like to have a pet. Our pets are awesome, and I wouldn't have it any other way, except for the cost of food, which, in my opinion, could be a little more reasonable.
