Review of Sanity
Review by BEAR
Rated: ASR | (4.0)
Thank you for this post. Line 15 seems to me to be mispelled but if that was your intention for the extra e in THEE then thats fine. Lossing our sanity to age is scary. Senility, Alhiemers, and the breakdown of our minds and bodies in general is nothing to look forward to. I enjoyed your post Thanks S A Gibbins

Review of Vision of Spring
Review by BEAR
Rated: E | (4.0)
This was a nice piece- short but nice. I was a bit confused about your use of the begining "this". I assumed that it refers to the Vision. But I am not sure. Spring does tend to inspire doesn't it? I am not sure if it is Spring or Fall I love the most. And all the seasons bring something different. Except the cold winter wind which I used to like but my bones hurt. LOL Keep writing and thank you for this post. S A Gibbins

I can appreciate the moon and it's inspiration. I believe you could refine this piece a bit. Your content is good but perhaps you could say it better. I'm no expert here so don't be discouraged. We all can use direction no matter how little or how much we write. Learning is an ongoing endeavor. The scriptures say that "the beginning to wisdom is knowledge". In the short time I have been on here I have learned alot. I look forward to some of your other items. Keep writing my friend and thank you for posting this. S A Gibbins

Review of Untitled 2

Rated: 18+ | (3.5)
I found this work good. You could have used some different discriptive words. I see similarity in another one of yours. Line 8 of stanza 2 contains a mispelling. I believe it should be trudgeing? I very much liked the second staza too. If I understand what you are saying I get the point that sometimes we live what we perceive people want us to be instead of who we are. Sometimes who we are is hard to define. I know personally I thought I knew who I was. But find that from time to time had to redifine that. As you said this was created a long time ago. And if I had some of my first work on here you might laugh. At least yours has substance. I will look forward to some of your other items when I can come back and take a look. Meanwhile I will put you where you belong--- in my favorites. Have a great day and thank you. S A Gibbins

Review of To A Cat
Review by BEAR
Rated: E | (4.0)
Having the ability to inflict pain and holding back under adversity is indeed a challenge. I would have liked it if you had elaborated more on the comparisons. Being a cat lover myself I am bias to begin with, but it was a nice static item. I believe this item is more prose then poetry. On another note. My half-sister had a big grey tabby. She would dress up and wheel around the neighborhood in doll clothes so I know where your inspiration comes from. Sometimes I used to wonder myself why he never jumped out or seemed irritated, although his ears and all you said were in place. I assumed he would rather not complain and enjoy the ride. Maybe it was easier to be peaceable and benefit then fight and wonder. Thanks S A Gibbins

Review of Whisper

I'm smiling here because of the visuals. Of course you wouldn't be so cruel would you? I am wondering if this prose was prompted by an errant mouse in your house. One which you would have liked to cane!!!! Of course not. LOL Thank you for this static item. It was a pleasure read. S A Gibbins

Goodmorning my dear. Although I am not a reviewer I will take the time to thank you for your account of this loneliness. Your poem in first person discussion with yourself is interesting to me. I have no problem with the use of slang but you may want to change some of it. I liked several lines in your poem : "why am I so lost without you" " because actually there is no you" and "if you exist only in my heart! no other words have to be said" And the ending - the last three lines. "You are always on my mind". Keep writing and honing your skills. ( me too) have a blessed day and thank you for posting this item S A Gibbins

Review of What love?
Review by BEAR
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
I will not offer any suggestions on making it better because I am not sure I could anyway. These are powrful words here. I feel sadness. I feel the negative. I am reliveing the last words also "what I would do to make you love me again" "what I would do".
There is power in those words. There is deep of feeling also. It is so sad that sometimes we make bad choices or mistakes that cause us to lose something so precious as love. "if only" has been on the lips of lovers from times' beginning. They say it is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved. I'm not so sure I agree with that. Keep up the fine work and thanks S A Gibbins

Review of Cry For Me
Review by BEAR
Rated: E | (4.5)
I am not sure if I am addressing a man or a woman who has written this touching poem. None the less I will say thanks. It is a moving account of what might be parting words from a cat. I myself love cats very much and I guess I may be partial when reading this. As poetry it could use a bit of work but I am by no means a critic so my estimation should be taken with a grain of salt.
I will say this though. When a poem reachs down inside you and moves your spirit or causes you to perhaps well up inside. To me that is poetry at it's finest. When poetry makes you smell or taste; hear the waves upon the shore; feel the breeze on your face. That is poetry. And my friend this is indeed poetry. Thank you for writing this woderful account about cats. I have lost and found many a stray in my years and will continue to enjoy them also. As well as fine poetry as yours. S A Gibbins

Review of A Weaker Vessel
Review by BEAR
Rated: E | (4.5)
In your comparison with the vase I find it interesting. There is emptiness in our lives from time to time. Writing has been for me one outlet that has fill my vase so to speak. But of course nothing can really fill the voids. And like a vase that is easily broken so to can our fragile hearts. We wonder if anyone sees us for our beauty as we sit on the shelf like the vase. And if the vase breaks how easily forgot it will be in time. Life is much like that. People take us for granted and if we have had our heart broken then we too feel hollow inside and empty. I am hoping that this is not the case for you. But if it is know this, that sooner or later someone else comes along and say's " my what a beautiful vase. S A Gibbins

Review of Untitled

Some nice mental images I get by reading this. I get the feeling that you let something go in your life because you couldn't measure up and the anguise of thinkling about the loss and hurt and pain that is associated with it all. I don't try to critique much on structure nor substance. Only what I like or feel in the poem. If it moves me or not. It's content and if that makes me feel something. Sometimes we write some stellar stuff and other times fluff. But writing is what we do isn't it? Thanks and keep writing. S A Gibbins

Review of Sundays

" I Tryed to Find Home". Thats my suggestion for a title. Sometimes we don't find the right words to say. Nor the right time to say them. Sometimes we wish " if I only said this or that" Perhaps that is the true meaning of the word "sigh". And I guess that is why love is so powerful. We write volumes about it. If there was a formula for making it work we'd all be in love. Thank you for letting me review this poem. S A Gibbins

Review of The old woman
Review by BEAR
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
Very nice. I have a mental picture of being on the porch with you. I can imagine the situation. I am curious if this is a real account of someone you knew? I like the reaction of the observer, first blushing and then envious. I can imagine how wonderful the love between them must have been. And your description of how she shines when she speaks of him. A great tribute to lost love and no dought she has many fond memories.
Thanks S A Gibbins

Review of October
Review by BEAR
Rated: E | N/A (Review only item.)
October is my favorite month and this poem takes me back to several Octobers. My children born, and when I read a poem as yours I can smell the leaves. Feel the crisp air and feel the wind summoning in the winter and snow soon to come. And yes one more thing. October reminds me of Striped Bass fishing in years gone by in Montauk, Long Island, NY S A Gibbins
