This piece reads like a quiet echo of sorrow; soft, surreal and surprisingly profound. The imagery is striking, especially "a grotesque pose, it sits like the friendly kind" which gave me chills. There's a beautiful contradiction in how grief and routine blend here. Well written, deeply felt.
