Review of E . K . G

Oh alas, love though potential to build and nurture truly does have potential to destroy, maim and suffocate any sense of self worth, respect for one's self and resolve amongst other things.

I am sorry for your heartache - I also hope you find that one special one, who will love you unconditionally, never judge harshly and most importantly - always have that special smile reserved just for you!

Nicely written - I felt this.

Thank you.

Review of Fate

Life saved by true love - Soul mates as only they can read, know and sense eachother's fate, destiny and path.

Wow - this is truly a brilliant piece that leaves the reader gasping at the end of the poem to realise that it is indeed not she that will perish - I guess the saying - Nothing is set in stone when it comes to premonating one's fate sure does stand true.

Poignant, heart wrenching and impactful to the end.

Thank you!

This is truly a very sweet, heartwarming tale - the wise knowledge possessed by the elderly..... A sense of nastalgia and old time ambience is created in this tale so nicely.

Thank you for the read - I enjoyed this.

Hi Lakeside,

We as people can sometimes be like a busy seaport, seeing each other - yet not.

Passing ships in the night my Dad always used to say. This piece evokes that sort of feeling but also the lesson that the girl (or guy) behind that counter, when they smile may just be saving someone's otherwise dreary and somber existence.

I always tell my kids - You never know where another person may find themselves in their life journey. So always be ready with a kind word and a sunny smile, for that little action may make the world of difference to an individual that could truly be at their wits end.

I don't know if that makes sense - but that is what I take away from this piece once I have read it.

Thank you - this is very eloquently written and simple in it's effective yet subtle lesson it has to teach.

Review of River

This ebbs and flows so beautifully - the main reason it does is it is to the point yet descriptive enough for the reader to be carried along with the current of this piece.

The adding of Harry Chapin - humanitarian and Thoreau - Philosopher are a nice touch to in a sense indicate the different tides, current etc that a river will have through it's path in time.

I liked this one.

Thank you.

Bullies can make the life of one pretty miserable, and although it is looked at as a failure on the victim of said bullying's part - unless you have found yourself on the receiving end of such bullying you know not what it is like.

A very cleverly written piece which at the end leaves the Nora character slightly likeable....and we see that she does possess a sense of humor.

Thank you for this story i enjoyed it~!

Well.....I am certainly not going to try and give a haircut with a scissors, as in like ever!!

I truly enjoyed this short story, sneaky cat, sheepish wife and scruffy eared hubby.....sorry I just could not resist.

Thank you for this - the ending truly left me smirking for a long while after.

A well worded "wake up call" - written with care yet still carrying your point across.

We do, as a race tend to ignore another's pleas for help - and if by chance an individual does lend a helping hand, they are back the next seeking recognition - a pat on the shoulder for a job well done old chap!

Thank you - I hope more read this and take a long, careful, self reflective moment to consider these words - and that they will stop before acting on something in the near future - heeding these wisely written words.

Review of Old Lovers

A touching, sweetly written portrayal of true love experienced and as in all things eventually lost - the one claimed by the inevitable foe - death.

Just a small suggestion from my side - perhaps separate your story into shorter paragraphs - just a thought. - it would give the reader a more relaxed read and overall experience.

Truly a beautifully written piece. thank you for sharing.

Review of One more chance

Hi Patricia,

Firstly, thank you. this is an incredibly brave write to share so openly.

We all, as parents, be we married, divorced or other - we all have regrets that will plague us for the rest of our days. Things we wish we had done, words we wish we could erase, memories we wish to totally obliterate.

Yet, we need to move passed these, we need to move on.

One thing I am going to insist you realize, it does take two to tango - a failed marriage is never one person's error - it is both parties that have in their own ways contributed to the destruction of something once pure and loving into something toxic and foreign.

The line:

" learn how to be a better wife" hit me right in the gut!! something i am going to ask you....should he not also have learnt to be a better husband??

As to the situation with you children, i know how that hurts and claws to the very essence of one's soul, but have faith, keep positive - I am hoping and praying that this will change...

Much love and light to you!!

Hi R. Engels,

A lovely piece of advice - almost like you are sitting with a very close friend, I can hear your voice soft, comforting & reassuring as I read through these lines.

I loved how this flows, yes there is some negative - but you always offset it with a positive - well done!

It is a pity that there is not more understanding out there between ourselves and for others - wouldn't the world be a more peaceful place - if we explored our humanity, found our empathy and shared our compassion......this would be a good start.

Thank you for these words......I am sure there are many that will read through this and think......"you truly understand where I am...."

Hi Nordic,

I liked this alot!

I hope I understood the meaning of this poem in the sense that it testifies to that basic human desire to love and be loved?

The last stanza especially spoke of this to me, specifically these lines:

"In anguish calls its beloved's name,
In hope waits for a hand upon the door.
Refusing the emptiness of its bed,
Seeks now only a place to lay its head."

we all want a place to belong, somewhere at the end of the day where we can lay our heads down and know we are home, we are loved and cherished and that we matter.

Hi Patricia,

This one made me smile - thank you for sharing!

Truly conveys the open innocence we all possessed at the age of 7 before we learnt of malice and reality.

I loved the simplicity of the words that though simple in their diction, spoke volumes for the dreams all little kids dare to dream.

Nice done!
