I am a collector of rating and reviewing schemes. My fist challenge at writing.com became giving fair and accurate reviews. Reviewing forced me to seek books on structure, style, and grammar. The effort in reviewing returns two-fold in learned writing skill. The effort by others critiquing my own work continues to polish and hone my stories. I love fair, honest reviews of my work. My commitment to improve my writing is a life-long challenge.
I have a collection on items pertaining to reviewing on my port. I am thrilled to add your comments to my list.
Thank you for designing and sharing these c-notes. I am looking forward to using them when I review ports.
Your work is awesome! I can't tell you how much Writing.Com means to me. It's your attention to detail and the addition of wonderful accessories like these c-notes and the beautiful merit badges.
I don't usually read and rate poetry. However, I was hooked after the first line. Your beautiful selection of words clearly illuminated deep feelings and emotions. There is music in your rhythm, I enjoyed the sound of this piece. Although I am a complete dunce when it comes to iambic or dactylic I just like what I read.
A delightful story! I was a bit dubious at first; I've never thought much about old fashioned candy stores. As I read on, I too fell in love with Swen and his shop. Reading the great ending, I was thinking about winning the lottery and what I would do with myself afterwards. This candy shop sounds great.
My only comment:
"He set them out in rows like tiny marching soldiers ready for battle."
I was distracted by this line. To me it detracted from the idyllic setting of the candy store. The metaphor works, but doesn't fit in with the peace and serenity I felt inside this shop.
I am not confident enough to review spelling and grammar. However, being an avid reader, I appreciate your comment concerning the paragraph breaks in long text. Just last night I closed a piece that I fully intending to review because of the overwhelming amount of text.
The suggestion that reviews be acknowledged with a thank you is very important as well.
I love the story line. However, as a reader, I was confused and had to go back and search through the long paragraph looking for what he was trying to find. You might want to work on paragraph structure and run-on sentences. My only claim is that I am only a reader, not a grammatical guru, and I know what I like to read.
