Hideho, Simon!

I enjoyed your animal short story not a contest entry. I love turtles and you have given me lots of new ideas. I thought the whole story is pretty much error free. I tend to only see the best. You are good, too. I love the adventures that Earl has been through! He must have the IQ of a Genius. It all started with Earl's bravery about the Forbidden Road and all of a sudden, the story changed and became an exciting, dangerous incident. I belong to the Americanturtlerescue. I don't remember the url at this time, but Susan Tellum in Los Angeles, CA operates a huge santuary for all sorts of tortoises and turtles. We used to mail box turtles and tortoises to each other. I miss my turtles. Your story really got me thinking.

Hello,

I just happened to notice your story on Max Griffin's Contest and thought it would be different. I am glad I took the time to read it, it's a good story. Don't want to swell your head. The last part was interesting, the way you were able to describe death, or your idea of death. I don't have one yet. I'm still A Sage of the Tao. "...Maury faded into dark or light, to meet whatever came after life." Wonderful way to end this story. I will be reading more of your work in the future.

Thanks for sharing that touching story about the pros and cons of diversity. Granted more schools and colleges support this wonderful curriculum, but we need to train the ones doing the teaching. It is not fair for college degrees to have trouble with work they are not particularly prepared for. We need an even keel and everyone should come aboard.

Hi, Evermore!

I just read your contest entry for "I'll give you a sentence." I am pretty sure you are the winner. I thought my story about one of my cranky allilgators was good, but your story had a plot, excitement, mistery, violence and humor. I am looking forward to reading more of your work. I am just waiting on a rainy day so I can spend some time indoors. We never have winter down here.

Hello, Rich,

I was just surfing, looking for animal stories because I have well over 100 animal stories in port. The story I just read about the parrot was a hoot! I have an Afrian Grey Parrot who hates my guts. I've had him for years and just as I figure out a way to avoid being savaged, he solves his "problem." One day my mother was sitting with me in the kitchen drinking coffee and Timmy said in a clear voice, "What the F___K?" Momma just gave me a smile. He has never said it again and I don't remember saying it around him. Here is an offensive Parrot Joke. A man of minority heritege said to a pet shop parrot, "Polly want a cracker?"

The parrot looked him in the eyes and said, "N____R want a watermellon?"

Hello, HuntersMoon,

I ejoyed your entry for the Pet Newsletter. You really did a great job of telling us about how a dog feels about his owner and how the owner feels about his pet. I also found a lot of the lines very amuzing. I especially liked, "We are not that different from you except we choose to never lie." That is so true!

Yours,
Lesley

Hideho, SandraLynn!

I just read your story, "Dance of the Shunk." You love animals as much as I do! You must have experience with them, as you seem to understand how they think. I have kept many animals and never owned a skunk. They are not native here. I know a lot about possums and coons, buffalo, foxes, snakes and other critters. I was bitten by a skunk that was donated to the Animal Forest. It was so darn painful!

Hello, SandraLynn,

I enjoyed reading your interview with the cat for a purrfect home. You portrayed your kitty in a realistic light, and your questions were really good. I have written stories about stray and neglected animals that end up finding a home or not making it at the pound. I was an animal control officer and worked at an animal adoption center in my spare time and I could put words into their mouths like you did. You really have a unique insight and you are a fierce animal nut like me!

Yours,

Lesley Scott

Hello, Chasing Worms,

Your handle is perfect for your short story, "Creating Jewels." I identified with Larissa imediately, as if you wrote about me. I also hated working in the yard, and was almost forced to weed and mow the lawn and plant seeds and bulbs. Now, I have nine raised beds in my backyard with lots of vegetables and flowers. That reminds me... I am going to help my mother in her yard in the morning!

Yours,
Lesley

HIdeho, Pam!

I am very impressed with your stories for children. One of my goals is to be versatile enough to write for children and enter the "Words with Wings." You ought to enter that. LostGhost is heading it up it's a great contest. I would also love to write true crime stories like Ann Rule. She worked with Ted Bundy in College on a suicide hotline. He even wrote her regularly until he was executed!

Really, though, if you haven't entered Words with Wings, do it right away. We don't have a lot of writers that have that drive to write for kids. Do a search for "Words with Wings." That should get you there.

I'll turn you on to an exciting story.

HIdeho, Meg!

I just happened to stumble across the "Blog City" and was curious enough to check it out. I am not as involved in as many groups' activily as before, so I may have some time to join. I will think about it and read more about it. You know how horribly reclusive I get during a bout of depression. Then I get manic and feel like I could change the world. I've been up a lot more than down lately.

I see a bunch of titles of blogs of yours that should be great. I haven't read any yet, I barely had time to turn on the computer. Now, the cats and dogs are pestering me for their supper and bedtime. Two of them sleep in my bed and Cherie, my Maine Coon Cat (boy she is a big kitty) sleeps in her own bed. I used to let Gypsy sleep at the foot of the bed and had to discontinure that because she was chewing on my hair! She's squealing to come out for a while she has an outside cage, regular indoor cage, and several other spots in the house.

I will close for now. Let me know how to make a donation if the group requires.
Love,
Lesley

Hideho, ya'll!

I think the Blog City concept is a great idea. I would like to join, but I probably need to read up and get some more information. I don't want to feel pressured like I do when I enter contests or answer the blogs of others. I also have a problem with clinical depression from Bipolar and may not use the computer for days or even a week. So I need to be able to take a break and not get too bogged down when I return. I'm still not sure how a blog works. Which is the most recent? Isn't it the top comment?

Your Friend and Neighbor,
Lesley Ann

I would also like to make a donation.

Hideho!

I just read your short story, "Freefall." I thought it was pretty cool. I especially like your style of characters and dialogue. The story wasn't what I expected. But that is what makes reading your stories so much fun. You are full of suprises!

I have Trigeminal Neuralgia, which is also called "The Suicide Disorder." The pain is on the left side of my face and the trigeminal nerve runs from ear to eye to jaw. Sometimes, it will be so bad, I'll think I have an ear infection. Hot compresses only help a little. I don't like pain killers much either, but I also have migraines. I take Ultram or Tramadol four times a day and I finally have peace! Once in a while, I'll skip a dose or two if I don't feel the pain coming. But if I run out, it's Hell to pay and I understand suicide. After all, I am Bipolar! I do all nighters and then have periods of feeling worthless and wonder what I am doing here.

My face is starting to hurt and it's time for my Bipolar night time meds I take at bedtime. I take Ambien, Tramadol, Trazadone and zyprexa and sometimes valium. I carry on fine with that many drugs on board. I've been taking them for so many years, I have a tolerance. It's when I'm not taking my meds that people think something is wrong with me.

Love,
Lesley

I was peeking in your great port. You have just about everything in there. It must be nice to be so versatile. I'm still stuck on non fiction and essays. I was a newspaper writer for a long time and also wrote newsletters, agendas and other type stuff.
I loved your Thanksgiving Story! I wrote one called "The Real Thanksgiving," or something like that. I'll try to find it for you to see. I wrote it three years ago. I'd like to think I'm more creative now.

Hideho!

I am a plain writer, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

At the begining, the phrase "I came around". Do you think you could find a more creative way of writing it?

I've been taught not to use "was" or "There." because the words don't describe much. You have the talent to write a better discription.

I thought the ending of the story was great! If I were a man, I'd use the card. I have done that before and we had a wonderful time.

Hideho! Mo!

What a wonderful gift you just handed over to me. Maybe I will become less bored and win some more contests. Your story about the mule, of anything prospective up to three lines will win the contest. I think it is worth writing. Jrreese is the sponsor and he has three seporate contests. I would love to win the contest. I wrote the three sentence one about , jeeze, I forgot. Anywy, write to some of our friends and see if they can help jreese catch up. He needs a certain number to finish for awards and he only needs one more.

Check him out.

Again,
Thanks so much for giving me such a generous gift of points. I will use them to buy you some raffle tickets and surprise you with other gifts. You are just being so sweet,
Love,

Review of Wolf Sig

Hello, Mo,

I love the wonderful painting of your wolf portrait. Did you do it? I can't remember who set it up. I think it was MaryAnn and Ledger gave us a hand. I hope Teargen isn't made at me for using it so much. I have noticed he has used it about 20 times. I will drop him a note and thank him, but I'm afraid he'll make me cry. I cry easily. That is why I don't understand some of the animal neglect stories. I guess I wrote them because I wanted people to know what is really going on up their noses.

I love the color of the wolf's eyes. The one we had in the Animal Forest, Craig may have weighed 200 pounds. He had extremely long legs, a large body, a beautiful coat of a mixuter of silver gray and outer hair of long black top coat. I swear, I'll bet he could wear my saddle.

But he was very sneaking and untrustworthy. We had to lock them all up in the feeder cages and then we would be able to carry the food down the later. He ate dry dogfood, canned dogfood and Nebraska, which is basicly ground up horse guts. For snacks or showing them off, I would throw a couple of chicken backs in the pen and watch them jump up in the air and snapp them down. I never trusted them anyway. There was something about the way they walked, how they would glare at me with those yellow eyes and even tried pulling Beverly through a small hole where we clipped on the food pan.

Keep writing, my friend,
I have a feeling you will make a great writer. You pay a lot to attention a descripion and I hate details. What a pair. I think that would work well. Of course I want to meet all of y'all. You just struck me with your great port.

Yours,
Hee Haw

Hello, pragyayo,

I just read your "Script" about Darwin. I hope you have continued and I will have more to read. My husband and I have "Origin of the Species," and a couple of other Darwin books. He was so ahead of his time! You included some well-researched facts and proposed questions, as well. I also have read most of Desmond Morris's books, "The Naked Ape," "The Human Zoo," "Talking to Horses," "Human Behavior," and others. He suggested that we humans have earlobes for erotic reasons. Licking or sucking on earlobes can give one chills of pleasure sensations. Also, the idea of sex being monogamous is the pair bonding, which is why we enjoy sex.

Keep up the good work!

Yours,
Lesley Ann

Hideho, Lynda!

I just read your cute short story, "For The Love Of Dogs." I had to laugh out loud, especially when your friend's dog did the same thing! My cats used to do that when I had about 15 of them, but my two don't seem to want to jump on the table. Noodle has a bad leg and pelvis, so she can't jump up. My Maine Coon cat would probably do it though.

I've owned many, many, many dogs. In my animal control career and being a vet tech, I've probably dealt with hundreds, or probably at least one thousand dogs and cats. I lived on a farm, so I brought some of them home. I am going to include a story I wrote about my Boykin Spaniel. Please look it over when you have a few minutes. I also have a couple of exciting and humorous alligator stories.

Lesley

Hello, Purseman55,

I saw your short story called simply, "Dogs," and I had to read it. I found it to be entertaining and interesting. I never knew really what Boxers were bred for. I figured it had something to do with their tenacity. I was surprised to learn that the folds around a boxer's mouth were to keep blood out of his mouth.

I have worked with possibly thousands of dogs as I was an animal control officer for about ten years. The horrible cruelty I've seen, you don't want to know about. But when I worked for Goose Creek P.D. my Boykin Spaniel, Buster was my partner. All of the cops and former Marines loved him and spoiled him with treats. I think I will enclose my story about me and Buster.

Lesley Ann

Hello, 2chezpique,

Your title, "Road Kill," the more you drive the more you know it's a hungry road. The poem was catchy and original and the subject matter means something personal to me. When I was an animal control officer, I had to pick up messy roadkills, dead animals from under houses and even floating in ditches. I've seen all sorts of different stages of decomposition. Even now, I can glance at a roadkill and tell you exactly what it is. I should write a book about keying out Roadkills.

Now that I am in the city, I haven't seen a roadkill in almost 10 years. I am glad people are finally keeping their pets safe. Every now and then we go to Moncks Corner and I see a few, and even alive animals on the road.

Thanks for the funny poem. I won't forget it.

Your Friend,
Lesley

Hello, Vet,

I just finished reading your essay, "Pets and Their Behaviour." I can tell you have much more experience than the average pet owner and the reasons you listed how pets improve our quality of life is exactly the truth. I used to live on a farm with lots of livestock, poultry, rabbits, dogs, cats and kept three registered jacks for stud. Mules are different than any animal I've ever worked with. It takes a special frame of mind. But once a mule understands what his owner is asking, he will perform. I learned that from training mules and donkeys for show.

I used to be a newspaper reporter, colunmist, assistant editor for my college newspaper, president and founder of the Berkeley County SPCA and president and founder of the South Carolina Donkey and Mule Society. I also was a vet tech at the Veterinary Emergency Hospital and vet tech for a Board Cerified Veterinary Surgeon, among other things.

I learned from working with wildlife at the Charles Towne Animal Forest how to "read" the animals. It was easy. I just paid attention to their body language and expressions. I've had a few close calls, but quick thinking and understanding the animals' motivation kept me safe.

I am including a couple of my short stories. Do please read them. I hope I'm not harrassing you.

Your Friend,
Lesley

I just finished your short story, 'My First Love." I found the story to be moving and full of love and positive thinking. I think falling in love at church is the ultimate courtship. I had crushes on a few of my fellow male members of the church and we flirted in Sunday School.

Your story is very touching and I wish the author or you, another blissful 15 years.

Hello, there, Zoe Ross,

I just finished reading your moving short story, "Home Front." The name is perfect since Mellissa's home was, indeed, a war zone. When I read the first few sentences, I was drawn into the drama and was sorry when it ended. It was a happy ending, yet abuse can return at any time or her mother may have terrible taste in men. I feel sure her daughter has already learned to stay away from these violent and controlling psychopaths.

It is a good story, worth reading for anyone.
