two of four ,

I hope you do not mind my comments.

I really like that you started off with the scene of George's injury. Although George was perceived as "confused" by his wife, the story still made sense to me. Sometimes, when someone tries to show the confusion in the character, it can lose the reader a bit.

Part of this reminds me of "The Sixth Sense," and you start to wonder why can Alice see him, or is he alive and in just that much shock. I am leaning toward the fact that he is dead because George seems to not be in pain, and is just focused on making Alice understand. He tries to comfort her and then leaves. Those are not the normal actions of someone injured.

You did a good job in showing the connection and concern between Alice and George. You can feel her anxiousness and sense his need to make her understand. I wanted to know who was coming for him. Perhaps it was angels, aliens, the reaper. I liked that you kept all that open, it let my imagination wander to various options.

This kept my interest from the beginning to the end! This was a great find for me.

I think that these lyrics embodies what you see yourself as and what you wish to represent. I like that you're sending out a message that there are many things to you and cannot be defined by just a simple few things.

I had the pleasure of listening to sing this with the link you provided at the end. You have a lovely voice, and when I listened to it, it felt like you really meant these things, and were not just singing along. This song is who you are and your personal motto.

I really like the opening lines because I believe flaws can be beautiful. They're often given a negative meaning, but it are those same things that make us individuals.

The lyrics flowed along beautifully with the guitar, which had quite the catchy melody.

Your love for music and writing is evident in your work. I wish you much happiness and success. I also took a listen to "Free" and you're very talented.

Inspirational and motivation music! I look forward to reading and listening to more of your creations.

willwilcox,

Your attention to detail and description is fantastic here! Horror is something I have always been fascinated by, but have never been able to create, so I am a bit envious right now. I'm in awe that your mind is able to create these twisted and dark moments, but it is in a way that welcomes the reader. There is still something beautiful about the craft, even though the things you show us are horrifying.

perverse abnormalities of flesh and bone
Eerie and chilling!

twisted face of a clock with no hands
Either we are out of time, or there is no time in this kind of place, but you show it instead of just saying it!

I felt his hollow stare burrow into my flesh,
his eyes gaping like dark windows into my past
and stealing the very warmth from my blood.

These lines show the life being sucked right out of you! Excellent imagery!

I did a double-take when I read the last two lines. Powerful statement and great little twist. It really says a lot and makes me think about all these things we do to ourselves. Perhaps we are our own worst enemies!

Bad timing is often used to show why two people who belong together don't end up together. It is true, he did come back for Jessie, but how long should she had waited? I suppose a true romantic would have "forever," and she should never have settled even if the the person she was marrying was a fantastic guy. The heart wants what it wants! However, I think your ending is more to real life. We may not get the return of our "one true love" standing in at the end of our aisle, but it is likely that people won't wait around for their return either.

You did a great job in describing her old flame and in showing her heartbreak. I like that your short description states that she loses love again, but we don't know until the ending that the same person is the cause of it.

I did not see any errors in punctuation, grammar, or spelling.

You seem to have a knack for writing these short scenes and being able to make us connect with the characters. I like that while there is an ending, it also leaves this open for the reader's mind to wonder.

This little piece reminds me of kismet! It started off with Nicole being betrayed and heartbroken from the wrongful actions of her best friend and boyfriend, but ended up with the possibility of a new love.

You did a lovely job in showing the setting and the instances taking place in such a short amount of time. I could envision the tire giving out and the frustration with Nicole having to fix things herself.

I think that the story suggests that there could be a relationship between Jason and Nicole at some point, so it might be a great idea to expand at some point. It would be interesting to see what happened between her ex-boyfriend and the best friend, and then what developed between Jason and Nicole. There are lots of possibilities running through my head.

I am not certain if white doves was a prompt, but I thought your ending was a wonderful slice of hopefulness, which I did not expect to see.

I did not notice any errors in grammar, punctuation, or spelling.

I have had the pleasure of visiting your portfolio a several times during "Game of Thrones, and I have seen quite a few items that pay tribute to Writing.Com and the members. These pieces always warm my heart because it lets me know someone appreciates it just as much as I do!

I thought this was a lovely and sweet poem. We get to see how some of your friendships came to be, and a piece of the journey that you took here. I was happy to see "The Jester" and "Anniversary Reviews" in your poem, as well as those that have touched you through reading and writing.

Sum1 ,

This is pretty clever and witty. I didn't see the ending coming, but it all made perfect sense. It started off feeling like a fantasy piece, but then it also added humor, which was an unexpected yet welcomed twist.

You took common words, and created an entertaining and enjoyable story from the basis of them. I loved how you connected the word less with lessons and the word more with morons. I got quite the chuckle out of that. When you think about it, it a very simple idea, but it takes talent to pull it off in the way that you did.

As I was reading, I found it quite interesting to live in a land where everybody could understand one another, no matter the language.

You always seem to have a certain way with making the reader feel at home within whatever work you create, and you never seem to fail at keeping my interest.

I am still laughing at the end! Jim, thank you for making my day lighter. I really needed some smiles to keep me going!

This is a lovely and heartfelt thing to do. Writing one letter a year for your son and then presenting them to him at a later date as part of an adult birthday gift is an excellent idea.

Perhaps, even consider turning this into some type of scrapbook for him- a letter for every year and them maybe adding some pictures of Matthew and the family from that same year. You could even highlight some of Matthew's achievements within it too. It might be a great high school or college graduation gift.

This super sweet, and it really shows how much he thought about and how much he is loved.

I felt like I got a glimpse of Matthew and your family throughout each year. Writing a letter from his dog's perspective was too adorable, and the apology letter brought tears to my eyes. Sharing these letters are such a personal thing to do, and I found the moments captured through these letters full of heart.

I hope that you continue with this idea! This will bring smiles and tears to his eyes years down the road.

Hi Jeannie Cheering for Martel ! A very *ConfettiG* Happy Birthday/WDC Anniversary *ConfettiV* from House Martell at "Game of Thrones!

You picked the perfect quote to support your beliefs and thoughts. Your article shows a great appreciation for the world we live in and the earth beneath our feet. Sometimes we take the easier methods, instead of taking the extra five minutes to do what is right. If everyone would contribute that, I do think it would make a huge difference. We should treasure and nurture the place that we live.

We cannot survive without water, yet we continue to contaminate the water supply because of coal, oil, and fracking for gases. These are facts, and it bothers me that there are some people that think it's just not going to happen "in their time," so why should they care, or that it is not as serious of an issue as we make it out to be.

Your message is one that should be heard, and everyone should do their job to preserve it, and perhaps even restore what we had. Every living thing eventually dies and the only thing we can do is prolong it through protection and care.

If this is not taken seriously, we will lose what is left of our beautiful home.

Joy ,

One of the things that writers constantly search for is inspiration and ideas, at least I know that is true for me. I love seeing something that celebrates the art of poetry and gives others suggestions for their creativity.

I like that you do not require certain formats or lengths; it is really about what poems come to your mind from the given prompts. This will be a great aid for those that are suffering from writer's block too.

I appreciate that this is not a competition and truly focuses on learning, growing, and sharing. It is fantastic that you allow others to offer prompts.

There are some great and creative prompts, which I look forward to using in the near future. I feel that this will quickly become a favorite of mine. Hopefully, I will have a few suggested prompts to send you, as well as being able to use the prompts that are already listed. If you take inspiration, you should also try to give some back *Smile*

You have linked some items at the bottom which also look interesting, and seem to be related to the same idea as you have here.

The forum allows us to post our creations and gain suggestions and encouragement from other poets.

This is a fantastic way to promote Writing.Com authors. It can be tough to promote your own work, but this has asked others to aid in doing just that. What a great way to show support to a fellow author!

I think that you have offered terrific incentives to those that review through this. I thought that it was quite kind of you to offer to lend the book by kindle/tablet with the author's permission. I also appreciate that this can be used to post your final draft to gain a little help from friends prior to publication.

I had the pleasure in being a part of one of those books on the list, "Walking the Earth: Life's Perspective in Poetry," so it brought a huge smile to my face to see it was on the list.

Your rules are presented in a clear manner, and there is not any confusion with where to find the writings. Your format is appealing to the eyes, and you make it easy for others to know how to link their product reviews properly.

After "Game of Thrones and time permits, I look forward to checking out some of the writings from this list!

What a wonderful way to show support, Joy!

Winnie Kay ,

I LOVE this! Your words are very true; as writers we should already know how powerful someone's statement can be. I remember I was scared out of mind when I first joined the site. I saw the interaction on scroll, which was extremely popular back then and got a glimpse of how everyone seemed to be friends- like they had know each other for years. I knew that I wanted in. I was just too chicken to write or say much of anything for awhile*Wink*

It makes my heart smile that someone reached out to you and gave you positive reinforcement that you should be writing!

Let's face it, no one truly likes to have their work picked at, and if someone does that when you're new, it can surely make you want to run and hide in a corner. I had many people that were kind and helpful to me when I first joined, and without that I doubt I would have been willing to share.

I really appreciate that Kelly offered to help you privately and it was not all about pointing out errors. It was more of a guidance, suggestion, and friendship that seemed to be built. It really says a lot about the types of members Writing.Com has, and the kind of environment that SMS and SM have created for us.

Tsa, I hope you do not mind my comments.
This about just breaks my heart. Unfortunately, I am very familiar with dementia and Alzheimer's. Much of my family has suffered due to these things. It is hard to remember the person that they once were, and to realize they are becoming somebody else. Somebody else that we do not recognize, somebody else that changes daily. I love that your mother was all those things to you. She didn't judge or make anyone feel uncomfortable. She took people underneath of her wing, and cared for them as if they were her own. It sounds like you had a great role model. You should not worry whether or not you will fill her shoes. From all of the things that you appreciate about her, and all the things that you're trying to do makes you a great mother and a great daughter. There will be moments that she may remember. There may be moments that she is coherent enough to realize that the love that you are giving her is the same that she had once given to you. This is heartfelt and honest and I thank you for sharing such personal thoughts through this.

Your title and brief description intrigued me, so I decided to give this a go. I am quite pleased that I did, as I found this to be surprisingly emotional and it had me contemplating Elizabeth's situation. I wondered which contest this was written for, and if you needed to follow a specific prompt.

It is evident that you were inspired to write this. I think that you did a wonderful job in details and descriptions. I think it is a tough challenge! You managed to show a story, and introduce characters that the readers end up caring about in such a short piece. Usually, these things need more time to develop and the reader needs more time to digest. You did fantastic here!

It was easy to imagine Elizabeth's pain from the loss of her father, and the reaction she had when Jason called someone else mom. That was a fantastic twist there. I had to read it three times, just to make sure that my mind was not playing tricks on me! Your final two sentences gave me a bit of a chill.

Sum1 ,

I once drove cross-country for several years for my job, and seeing this makes me wish I had done something like this! What a great way to record and capture all of the things you've seen and experienced in your travels.

It was great going through some of your entries and reading about the people you reconnected with and to see the pictures. In my own travels, I would not have gotten to see as nearly as much as you have. I was driving a semi-truck, and often there was not much time or physical room to go where I really wished to go. However, I did get to see lovely things in places such as Nova Scotia, Montreal, and in many US states which would have been great to write about.

This feels like a show you'd see on the travel channel! Maybe a 30 minute show on the places you travel, what to eat, and where to go. I think it fabulous that you get to travel as much as you do, and I am appreciate that you had the idea to share it this way.

I look forward to seeing where you'll go next.

Moody Blue: Needs an Upgrade ,

This letter is heartbreaking to read. I can feel your disappointment, hurt, and anger. It does not sound like you had it very easy growing up, and it also sounds like some of these things continued into your adulthood.

As a child, you were asked a question that should not be asked of any child. Part of a parent's job is to do their best to make sure that it does not get cast in their children's way if there are troubles between a husband and wife. It does not always work, but the efforts should be there. A mother should not ask a child their opinion on whether or not they should divorce. My heart aches just thinking about it.

You have every right to be angry, but I also think you'll be much more at peace if you try to let go of the resentment and disappointment. Try to focus on Matthew. You've learned through your parent's mistakes and while it hurts, it certainly serves as a purpose.

I wish you and your family the very best, and hope you have true happiness surrounding your life.

I know that you have not made an entry for quite awhile and this was only created for a contest, but I really like the idea of this. It allows you to discuss things that you specifically wish to highlight and discuss.

I also see that "Game of Thrones was your last entry, which was a nice surprise. I was not familiar with it back then, but I bet it has come a long way. It is probably the most anticipated Writing.Com summer event, which I am thrilled that I get to participate it*Bigsmile*

I saw that you were disappointed in the lack of involvement in your Holiday Club. I hope it has picked up since then. I am actually surprised if it hasn't. With all the Holiday writing and activities that I have come across over the years proves that people are fans!

I hope that you continue with this idea at some point, even though that contest was a long time ago. It think it is always interesting to check out what other people think should be noticed.

What a great variety you have here! Your notes are vibrant and colorful. I love how much they feel like summertime just by looking at them. It's a mini-mind vacation, something that allows you to step away from the crazy world, even if only for a moment!

You offer these for different occasions, which also it's something that I feel is important in a successful shop. The images are beautiful, and in my opinion can help give someone inspiration while also offering encouragement and support.

I think you chose the perfect image for each occasion. My favorite one is the happy anniversary chairs. Even though the picture is a serene Beach setting, the two chairs suggest company is coming in some way. I hope that makes sense. It's almost like it's sitting there waiting for a friend.

I also thought that your prices were well within range. It allows those with less gift points to also partake in sending a note in Celebration. I am often looking for C-notes to send, so I am happy to come across one that I like. I look forward to brightening someone's day with one of these.

I’d rather my embarrassment be local and not global
I think you sound like you just might have a great sense of humor, which I appreciate. That made me laugh!

I agree with you when it comes to giving out personal information. It right to cautious these days, no matter what source it is coming through. It's unfortunate, but it is something we have to do.

It's neat that you used to draw comics and act them out as a child. It sounds like a wonderful creative outlet. You would have been an entertaining friend to have had. I can't draw a straight line *Laugh*

I just adore "Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein, so of course I was excited to see that you favored it too! He is witty and clever.

I love how you chose your name and think that it has a beautiful meaning. It's not a surprise why you choose it.

Elysia ,

I loved that you drew upon personal memory for this piece. The details that you provide about the store are welcoming and quaint.

Your story reminds me of my teenage years. I went to high school in a small town that had character and many "mom-and-pop" shops. I used to be involved in a lot of after school activities, which used to have me walking to one of the fields.
On the way there, my friends and I would stop at a candy shop that was inside an old white house. I remember the owners lived above the store, and all the candy was bagged, such as told in your story. I have not thought of that in years. I must have forgotten about it until I read this.

I would like to think that places like these would remain, and not be torn down to be replaced by a bunch of local chain stores. They're special places to us, that unfortunately do not have the power to compete*Frown*

I enjoyed your piece, and am happy that it rekindled a memory of mine which was long forgotten.

Amalie Cantor - We Got This! ,

I hope my comments are welcome.

The meaning of love varies, and through your well-thought out poem, it makes the mind wonder what it means to you. I adore that you contemplated this as much as you did! It really shows a strong connection to the words and emotions. I find that the term, "I love you" is used far too frequently that it almost takes away from the sincerity from it, so I grasped onto this piece tightly.

Do I not need you, the way wildflowers wilt
For lack of a summer rain?

These are beautiful lines, full of imagery that show how the person is thirsts for the one they love.

I choose to walk my life with you
This line says it all! Choosing to spend your life with a particular person is indeed love. It does not matter if the person is always shining in the brightest light. It is depending on one another in times of need. It is the first person you want to turn to. It is when you are able and willing to not put your own needs or wants ahead of theirs. It is all the things that you show in your poem.

You define love in this. Beautiful tribute.

Turtle ~ KanyáthƐko:wa:h ,

I hope my comments are welcome.

Although, my experience with Asperger’s is limited, I do know a little about it. I was very much intrigued by this and found it quite informative.

As I read along, I saw some of your struggles and started to realize that you are quite courageous and determined. When others said you could not do something, it crushed you at the time. However, you stared hardships in the face and did not let it conquer you. You fought diligently, and in my opinion won a battle.

You mentioned that there were times when you lost your control and lashed out on others with words that you now regret. Try not to hold to focus on that, many people that are not affected by Asperger’s or anything else have done the same thing, if not worse.

I admire you for sharing this, and I think that you should be proud of yourself for what you have managed to recognize and overcome. Asperger’s may always be with you, but you are living, surviving, and coping with it to the best of your ability.

You shine brightly.

I am always looking for how-to-links for certain things I come across on Writing.Com. This is the first time that I have seen one like this. I love that you can play poker using ML Tags. I did not even know that until this, and I have been here for 14 years! It makes me wonder where the heck I have been? It could be because the site has grown so much over the years, that there always seems to be a surprise around the corner. I love that I can still learn new things because of that.

Slots, too? Well, that may help keep some money in the pocket, while hopefully fulfilling a desire to go to the casino*Laugh*

You created a fun learning tool to assist others that appears easy to follow.

I may even be up for a hand of poker now, or perhaps a game of Yahtzee! With every passing year, there are more options as to what you can do on this site, so I definitely look forward to future additions.

It gives me the idea of a Writing.Com Game Night, which I think that would be a lot of fun to take part in! And with trinkets on the way, that would be a great incentive to offer.

GerMac ,

Hope my comments are welcome!

I found this pretty interesting to read. In the first few sentences, I saw my Annual Sweetheart's Contest listed, so that was quite a nice surprise for me.

I think you have mentioned some wonderful accomplishments in this, and you can always edit to add more.

You offered us some back history, and it helps us see a little bit of who you are. I think all your years in the classroom attributed to different inspirations in your writing.

From what I can tell, you are extremely involved on Writing.Com, and keep active daily, which lets us know that you're up for challenges and offering advice to other writers.

The only suggestion I can offer is to link your poem, "Seeking Knowledge" and any other pieces you have highlighted to make it easily accessible for those that are reading this.

You should be very proud of the journey that your life has taken on this page! It's always interesting to take a look at where you've started and how far you have come. It's a photo album of memories*Smile*

This is truly a personal piece to share, but that I am glad you did. I think it says a lot about you that you were willing to be as honest as you are here.

It's always interesting when one instance can turn our world upside down and what we once thought or felt completely changes. I am going to assume that you had thoughts even before it happened, but lacked the experience. I thought the phrase "kiss of death" was a good choice. You say that a part of you died, but I also really think that represents you changing a person. The part of you that was hidden came to life, and opened a door to a new world for you. You use the term "normal" in this, which makes me think about that term in general. It's weird how we label certain things as normal, and other things as the opposite.

I am happy that you were able to realize what it was that you really wanted and that your life was changed for the better. I imagine that it must have been difficult to tell your family. I just hope that you had acceptance and understanding from those that mattered most to you.
