It is rather intriguing to read about a man who lost practically most of himself in this work, "Who is That in the Mirror?" However, as a soldier we realize that most of himself that he lost maybe the result of his work as a soldier. Then, he realizes that another man who stared at his eyes may have thought he had seen the soldier before.
It is rather intriguing to feel you know someone by staring at the person's eyes, whom you may think you knew before. These images of recognitions are part and parcel of our being human because we tend to move around as we seek other employment. It is a good write, though...
Why would a boy wish he has a Dad rather than a Father? This short tale tells of a boy who only "tolerates" the husband of his mother because the man obviously did not care much for him... It is such a pity when a boy comes to realize the difference between a Dad and a Father, and for finally dealing "with this crappy day" in his life... A boy obviously grows up and realizes the situation he was in; however, he finally realizes his situation, which I should think should give him a chance to find a way out of his situation... It is surely a good write up about a boy, and I hope the author would write more so that others would have a chance to read his way of writing...
"Packing Panic" reminded me of the many times I traveled: the need to pack days before the day of departure... because of a chance of leaving out something necessary for the trip... Yes, it does makes sense to pack the day one plans to leave; however, is there a chance something important and necessary, will be left out because the packing is not planned ahead of the day of travel????? I honestly admire someone who plans to travel but would not plan, ahead of time, to make a list of what is necessary for the trip...because if it was me I would have had a list, and yet I would pack a day or so before the trip... This is a great debate on packing...
I almost did not review "The Scheme"; however, I was swayed by the word, scheme. So I reviewed it. What a schemer the "eight-year-old" boy is... I wonder what more dangerous schemes he would plan when he grows older??????
I feel the pain that some veterans are going through as I reviewed "Doug the Dog". Why are veterans become beggars after serving their country? Why? I believe these are questions that I or the writer of this short tale may be able to answer. Something should be done about all the veterans who have been abandoned by thier country...
The title, "Pastries on Patrol", caught my eyes; so I reviewed the short tale. It was all about a motorcycle cop and the driver of a car who drove his "'vette" a bit too fast; and was given a ticket. After which the cop "wished for another doughnut".
I have heard of cops who love doughnuts; and this little tale seems to prove there is a cop there who loves a doughtnut while waiting to ticket a fast driver... What a caper...
"Mistaken Identity" presents a courtroom tale, that definitely arrived at the truth according to what the witness said she saw... What a way to win a trial...
Isn't it wonderful when there is understanding between two people? There is no anger; there is no intimidation; there is understanding. Reading the "An Ounce of Prevention WC:280", I became aware at how the author managed to create a critical situation into a meeting of two minds...and thereby preventing a terrible event happening...
"Fraidy Grady" tells of a tale about a boy who refuses to go into the water, while his siblings and others urged him to jump. Earning the name "Fraidy Grady" became a constant reminder to the boy that the name would be attached to him as long as he refuses to go into the water; so he decided to jump in the water anyhow before he went indoors to join his family at dinner.
A boy decides what to do in the face of so much heckling from his family. The decision to jump in the water was his wish not to be known as "Fraidy Grady", and therefore it was a wise thing to do...
"Family" tells a tale that is easy to understand, and a funny, too. Imagine an old lady who is aware of the way some young boys try to scare an elderly woman. It turns out, she scared the two boys...and then adopted one of them. How sweet!!!!
Maybe if there were a lot more elderly women who do not scare easy, then our streets would be less scary... we shall probably see less young boys who go astray...
"The Counselling Session WC: 215" is definitely a waste of money according to the wife in this counselling session. Even the counselor found it rather a waste of time...
When it comes to counselling session, especially between a wife and a husband, and especially when the husband himself thinks it is all a joke, even as he was not willing to stop his philandering...
Thank you, Story Mistress, for that summation of comments, re: "giving criticism". I understand what you are saying, and I believe I, myself, have come to believe that there are people who just want to say something, without realizing what they are saying/writing. I wonder, though, why they should be so negative?????
Why was a Cheerios box and a fake green plastic knife considered inappropriate for Halloween by a teacher? Maybe the teacher considered the plastic knife much more inappropriate? Nevertheless, both teacher and parent have gotten angry with each other because of a matter of opinion? And something like this scene should probably be avoided if both considered the fact that children do develop their ideas through learning and copying... and therefore teacher and parent should just let things get on...
"Where to Meet God" is a solid, strong faith displayed in this work. There is no ifs, there is only strong belief. The sharing of such a strong belief creates a message of "completeness you feel when you acknowledge Him" as I quote the writer's words. Through the busyness in our lives, we tend sometimes to realize that, and I quote the writer again, "God is real, and if you will allow Him, He will walk with you daily..."
I am rather curious. Why is it necessary to control others? There is such a thing as freedom, a free will to live harmoniously with others; an idea of "live and let live", which, in the long run, would allow people to communicate with each other without remorse nor regret. "Kate loved" should understand that life can be lived properly without the need to "control" and that the need to control others should NOT be the rule of life...
The blessedness of life becomes the theme of "An Appointment in Erfoud". Death was on its way to one called, Omar, who with all good luck managed somehow to avoid his death through a different in time... How lucky we would all be if we can avoid dying by a mere difference in time!!!
Did Paco discover who the serial killer was? Quite a discovery, indeed... The "Calling Card" is a crime tale of a killer, who happens to be a woman, as Paco, the Detective, discovered...
I understood the "tears" that the family shed in the story of "Christmas 1984", and realized that Christmas or any other holidays are great days when people see and feel the "needs of others" in their neighborhood... It is a holiday tale that makes us realize that there are kind hearts every where...
The writer of "Impossible" seems to have come to the conclusion that the "duality of nature" means we can taste the bitterness of a "bitter honey lemon" and also find joy in the "simplicity of love". I believe I agree with this conclusion...
"Ambition" is a short tale of a woman who never lost hope of performing in a Broadway production. As proof of her burning ambition, she scoured, nightly, "the papers for auditions...keeping her dream alive". It is an ambition that shows great hope and belief in someone's wish to perform...
Reviewing "The Curse of the Mudflats", I concluded that here is a young man, who for years, listened to his parents about the danger in the mudflats. It did not matter at all because here was a young man who believed he can outwit his parents. In the state he was in, "wading through waist-deep muck", he finally realized the error of his decision: to prove to his parents the mudflats were not dangerous...
After I reviewed, "A Bump in the Night", I would suggest to "Lillibet" to move out of her apartment building and instead rent a one-bedroom house, where the only noises she would hear in the night would be her breathing... In an apartment building, there are people who may snore loudly or people who love to sing loudly in the shower or people who would turn up their videos just to scare other apartment renters... This short work does bring to the fore some of the things (problems) that come up in a large apartment building, including pop, pop of guns? or unearthly screams that make a person call for help...
I laughed after I read, "The Family Bible"!!! It looks like the 11 year old boy is showing signs of becoming a future "comedian"????? What a light tale...
That is great, britbvfby, carry on with your writing; you are doing fine...keeping your sanity is one big help, especially when it comes to writing... blog it as much as you can because that is the only way you can be certain you are still SANE...All good wishes,
