Review of Morning
Review by elephantsealer

"Morning" is a sad tale about a woman, alone on Christmas day. "She was cold and stiff now, but she was still smiling." What a contrast: Christmas and loneliness. It is sad to think that perhaps there are more people who are alone on holidays, like Christmas. Although the focus on a woman alone while others in her street were celebrating with families. It is truly something that does happen: aloneness because part of one's family has "moved on", as the saying goes. However, although she was "cold and stiff now, but she was still smiling" because she must have known that she was soon to "join" her family.

The author of "Love: An Illusion" questions: "Does love exist?" The writer further adds that love is shared between two people; that people should share love with someone, laugh with someone and make "fun of each other". We do question once in a while whether or not love exists. In this short piece of writing, the author hopes "to find someone..." who will share love with someone in life, that "laughing with them about silly things, and making fun of each other" is love. It is indeed a great idea, that love is "beautiful between two peole..."

I was amused reviewing "God Created Witches Too, 2", that tells of two witches in a family. Why in heaven's name would the second witch, the baby, mess things up for the father? An inkling of a doubt came up when the father hinted that maybe he was not the baby's father? What an interesting turn of events...

What an interesting little tale, "Bad Friend". As has been said and repeated, the need to excel is one of human's frailities. There is that need to be better, to know more, to excel much more, to be better. Is there a sense to it? Obviously?

What a shame about "That book", that no one cares to read. There must be a reason it just "lies on the floor"... Has it been torn???

To the author, what an interesting way to write... how about many more????? All good wishes,

Review of First meeting.
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: E | (3.5)
Why is "First Meeting" interesting to review? Because here are two individuals who "found" each other, in the middle of their idea of finding a life-time partner. As per the first part of this tale, we learn of the man's reaction to the woman he was meeting. We learn of his positive reaction to the woman he agreed to meet with; and that his feelings were much more positive. However, in the second part of the tale, we find the woman was a tiny bit critical of the person she met. Do we, therefore, make a conclusion that the man was less crsitical of the woman he arranged to meet; whereas the woman concluded that the man she agreed to meet wears a "topee"; and that even before she met with the person, that she had decided that the man was not worth and up to her standard. Do we see here the big difference between two individuals?

Review of I Hate Her!
Review by elephantsealer

In "I Hate Her!", I wonder why "Carley" changed her attitude towards "Lisa"? Is it because "Lisa" was "really smart", and was going to help her with math?

This is a short story of one person's attitude towards another. Then the attitude changes and it seems "fair" after all. Why? The ending answers it: "Yeah, well. And Lisa's really smart too and will help me with math and..." It seems obvious...

Review of JUDGING PEOPLE
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
"Judging People" is something that should never enter in the thoughts and minds of others. Yes,we,humans, seem to be quite free with our judgements. I believe it is wrong to judge; howeverr, it is not wrong to first look at oneself before one commits the mistake/error of passing whatever reason there is in one's thought about another's decision... To the author, I am glad to review your short work...

Review of Treasure
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
In "Treasure", we meet Sarah who felt terribly sad as a result of her parents' separation as well as her dread of what the "quaint seaside town" would mean to her. However, her sadness seemed to have been diverted by a lone man in a dinghy being tossed about in a rough sea. She sought the help of men who saved the man in trouble. Her quick action in saving the man in the dinghy seemed to have turned her sadness, giving her hope to join "young lifesavers".

This tale is a worthy lesson to children who are affected by their parents' parting, and the resulting move to a place that would make them feel lost and alone as well as dread a new school.

"And also of those who love" is a piece of work that should remind us of the beauty of "love"; and on the other hand, makes us realize the evil of hatred and lost love. This tale tells of love that seemed to have lost its beauty; instead it turned into an evil act of killing. This tale would remind us that when the beauty of love turns into an evil act, we lose all sense of goodness and humanity.

Review of The Last Vein
Review by elephantsealer
In affiliation with SENIOR CENTER GROUP
Rated: 13+ | (3.5)
"The Last Vein" is a sad tale of human frailties but very much a story of greed and evil. It tells of Reg, who had no sense of family life and responsibilities to family. So he left that behind and got involved with an old miner, who gave him a load of Opal. As the saying goes, what you do to others, will be done to you; when he got killed by a man who was as greedy as Reg.

It is sad when greed touches the lives of people; and it is much more pitiful when one's life is viewed as a means to become rich... Where in heaven's name do we find total happiness???? This author's piece of work makes us realize that greed and irresponsibility are not the ways to a rich and happy life.

Healing is the most important word to someone who loses a husband as told in the short tale of "An Unexpected Journey". The tale tells of a wife who finds herself in a bus; and "praises God" for reminding her that she "must move on and begin to mend." We feel the sadness of someone losing a loved one; however, there is a thought of praising God as a reminder that in order to "move on" one gets to "begin to mend."

"Because You're Mine" tells of spells, love, witch, and magic. Whatever happened in between all these words, we realize that the man did marry the girl; is now awaiting the arrival of their first-born; as well as awaiting, anxiously it seems, if the baby will have the power of the mother. Does love actually and really put one in a spell?

It is easy and light to read and review as well as fascinating and interesting because the ending seems to imply: "...It'll be interesting to see what a baby does with that power."

Review of Crows
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
The appearance of black crows in the field of wheat, that was ready for harvest, seemed to have affected a farmer's thoughts as depicted in the "Crows". Sam the farmer felt dejected by the black crows in the wheat field; whereas Sarah, the wife, caught a bit of his "depressive state" of thoughts that maybe the harvest may not be as fruitful as he expected as well as Sarah's hope that the harvest would mean a release from "two years of drought", that would "wipe much of the debt".

This tale is sad, that hints of another "drought" even as the hopes of a good harvest seemed to have reminded the husband of a Van Goch's depiction of crows in the artist's last painting, and which followed the painter's decision to kill himself. Was it also in Sam's thoughts?

"In The Name of Love" tells of the worth, or rather, the worthlessness, of love. We go through a lot of things in our human life; and in our journeys we stop and face the many features that love brings to us. We are fortunate, though, that we are able to find love, lose it, becomes our failing, and still we love what love is...

I believe this tale is a very good example of the many facets that allows us to understand what loving and falling in love is...

"How I chanced upon my username." is a wonderful tale of a person who loves mountains; and therefore, took a mountain's name as his own. It is a pleasant writing about owning a popular name as well as a love of mountains...

Here's hoping the author would continue to write more about mountains, valley gardens, and hills.

"The Rule of the Forest" is a tale of "the hunter...became the hunted." It tells of a forest where things happen very quickly; of creatures that move without a sound as well as predators that "neglected the rule of the forest...to make a sound was to give away position."

It is a very good example of writing that does not waver in its purpose; and that is, to tell it as it happens... Quite a very good story...

Review of Where's Waldo?

"Where's Waldo?" is a tale of a man, who made a point to be on time with his job interview. Although he got delayed, he was hired because of what he did: and that was to help someone else get out of a stuck elevator.

This story is a very good example of how things happen out of the ordinary; and how it ends with a satisfactory result. We know of many stories aboout people who have successfully gotten hired just because they did their best to be on time. I would say this is a good deed that ended happily...

Reviewing "Joyie's Holiday Season!" reminded me of my yearly vacations at the village farm where my father was born. Having lived in the City, I did crave the farm life: slow, happy and complete with aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., etc. And I, for one, feel for Joyie.

However, Joyie could always suggest to her mother she would go and stay with her grandma, while her Mom goes abroad again... This little annecdote surely tells us that there are children who have learned to cope with their parents' decisions... Do we see here a well-behaved Joyie?????

"I've Done Something" is an easy and fun to read tale. It is a piece of writing that seems to emphasize the earnest and understanding between husband and wife. When I read the title, I thought there maybe some kind of trouble between Gordon and his wife, Shelly. A real interesting way Gordon thought of taking a vacation without first talking to his wife...

"Mr. Rabbit and Mr. Wolf - The Witch" is an interesting tale of anger (Mr. Wolf's intense anger at the old woman), of rudeness (Mr. Wolf called the woman (old and ugly), and of selfishness (Mr. Wolf actually said the mushrooms were his).

This short tale is a very good example of showing the many wrong things we do as humans; a tendency to anger, rudeness and selfishness... An interesting tale...

Review of Ella's Story
Review by elephantsealer

Rated: E | (3.5)
"Ella's Story" is an interesting tale of an autistic girl, and her efforts to have a friend. When she met Rosie, it became clear that Ella was not the only girl without a friend, after all.

It is indeed sad when there are people like Ella and Rosie, girls who have come to feel and realize their inability to find friends as easily as others do. It happens more often than less because there are people who are naturally quiet and find it hard to speak and talk to others as well as people who are shy and timid...
