Well, this was an informative piece.
I'd like to read more about the characters: how they began their
storytelling at Writing.com .
I think a good story should challenge the reader and give them
a new perspective.
In this virtual world of words is Legerdemain a suitor to
The Story Mistress?

Fun read.

Very true and insightful.

The Pilgrims were searching for religious freedom.
They had been asked to leave Holland and France,
because of their intolerance of other religions.
The Native Americans were made aware of this intolerance after
the first thanksgiving.
Most Native Americans do not celebrate Thanksgiving.

Good story telling!

Hmmm,

Calling doctor Frued! Okay, demi-Gods are fun.
It was Nietzche who said, "God is above the law."
I think of a movie, where the bad guy is the hero.
Maybe, Zipper Head?

I don't think there's a moral there.
I sense you want the reader to like you.
Your destroyer of worlds is also sending his helpless
victims to Heaven. So, happy ending?

I'm lovin it!

"I know, I have been crying out to them.
The Sacred Books are nothing but words.
If you have not lived through something,
it is not true." Kabir, 15th century poet and

This is a very insightful piece.
You develop Edward's pathological distrust of women into
a diseased climax with his lover.
However harsh his feelings are for his father's infidelity;
Edward's contempt for his mother's apathy drives his violent
sexuality. The bitterness is believable.

Very well done.

I'm looking forward to Frosty the Snowman .. I like magic.
"I tells you" is a vernacular choice I suppose? I like the psych twist
to this hairy tale. Is the narrator a split personality?
Like most human endeavors, it is phenomenal.
Where does the dream become a real nightmare?

You write like a pro.. .

Mooooo! This started out as a half hearted lark
and then transgressed into a knitting chat.
Having, worked at Wal*Mart I can assure you
they have plans to build a store on the Moon.
There is a project on the way in Europe to build
a resort of the Moon. If the resort is built, there will be
a Wal*Mart in the lunar complex.

P.S. I like women with meat on their bones.

I pray fervently for a winning lottery ticket,
but Jesus said do not worry about tomorrow.
Why wasn't God answering?
Maybe, you have the wrong number.
Try praying for things you can get.
And then, thank God for it.

Just my two cents.
I like free verse.

"Kabir will tell you the truth; this is what love is like:
suppose you had to cut your head off
and give it to someone else,
what difference would that make?"
Kabir was born in the 15th century and wrote 100 poems.

You have a similar style.

Ehm, Matt, there is nothing new about detention centers in the USA.
During World War II, Japanese Americans were arrested and placed in
detention centers indefinitely. These new NDAA laws are probably targeting
Arab Americans the same way.. Unfortunately, we are all caught up in a
clandestine war against terrorist, who have no regard for life.
It was reported that most of the hijackers of 9/11 were Saudi, but Iraq
was blamed for the Twin Trade Center's destruction.
It was also reported that the Saudi King praised the Saudi hijackers of 9/11
and has sent their families millions. Still, there is no uproar against Saudi Arabia's
involvement in 9/11. There has been no Senate review of President Bush's
unilateral declaration of War on Iraq.
Did you know the Canadian government will not allow George Bush into their country? The French government has said they wish to arrest him.
George Bush declared a war without the consent of Congress or the United nations.
That makes him an international criminal, according to the United Nation mandate.
But, you wont hear about this on 60 minutes or Fox News.
We are a nation of Corporations bent on global domination through war or
trade. That is the way of things.

Peace Out!

This reminds me of Sophie's Choice by William Styron, the heroine,
Sophie is a prisoner in a NAZI war camp. She stands with two children
before the NAZI commandant. The commandant forces her to choose
between her two children which one will live and which will be killed.
If she refuses to make a choice both children will be killed.

The way to cause a mother to collapse is to divide her emotionally
to make her chose between her children.
When a woman has an ambivalent mother, she may find herself giving
in too easily; she may find it hard to demand respect and take a stand.

This is a an amusing psalm you've sketched.
Don't beat yourself up. You really do have talent.
Your lucky numbers are 15-78-6-45-2-9.
I know you can write something special.
Take a moment and write down a dream you had.
Don't try and be logical.
Do you dream in color?
What would a cherry jello bath feel like?
Have you been fantasizing about anyone?
Don't be timid write everything down.

Have fun!

This is so true and well written.
When stuff happens it happens fast.
The pharmaceutical companies are the biggest drug pushers
in the world.

Have you ever listened to their commercials?
Don't Happy Pills, while drinking alcohol . .
It may cause suicidal thoughts.
And women with high blood pressure should never
take Happy Pills. It may make you a nymphomaniac.

I enjoyed your free verse.

Did you know there is no J in the Hebrew alphabet?
Yes, God did not spare His only son.
But, is this justice?
Should we all not be held accountable for our own sins?
How does the death of Jesus change that?

Imagine an innocent man being executed for a guilty man's crime.
That would be a miscarriage of justice.
And Jesus did not end sinning.

A very thought provoking poem!

Thank you

Typos: "He had given into that live, for it called him love."
"Live" should be lie.
"If someone tells you're o blame-" You dropped the t in to.
"She couldn't go back though she couldn't kill herself again."
Drop "though." It is unnecessary ...

The subject: Young love lost. Is not clear. I wasn't certain, if the narrator
was older, than her younger lover or they were both naive.
There is vague reference to a drug addiction. The impression
given is a capricious narrator, who no longer desires the "boy."

Just my two cents.

Is this that movie SPEED? Diffusing bombs is always suspenseful.
I like the twist in the end. I remember a PBS series on WWII England
and their unexploded bomb squad: "It's out on the beach." a Bobbi says.
"So, let's blow it up. Are you worried about the scenic view?" the bomb
expert responds.

Bushido is a Japanese ritual suicide.
It is still practice in Japan. In other parts of the world
there is euthanasia. Both are honorable choices.+
I guess my big let down with your poem is it indecisiveness.
It looses some force, "On a second thought."

"Do what thou wilt!
I cry from my corrupted soul!"
Aleister Crowly..

Don't be afraid to write what you feel.

I feel your pain. I think we've all met someone we tried to help,
but they were beyond help. I knew a girl, who liked to cut herself.
I told her that could cause permenant damage .. She wouldn't
listen. She was committed to a mental hospital and that was
the last I heard of her.

Just remember a poem is not about structure . It is how you feel.

Good job!

Antithesis? I think this poem is a little too wordy.
But, the rest is a rum sweet.

to the ark after its first transgression,
has been driven beyond recall by the harsh words of an
unforgiving spirit." Bacon.

I like geothermal energy. Just tap into the natural steam of volcanoes.
Yellow Stone park is a giant steam turbine.
Then, there is the subtle energy in our homes. The moving water in our
plumbing can be tapped to generate electricity, radiant heat comes from
the ground and be captured.
Wind and solar are always available.
Why not bring back mass transit electric trollies?
It's so disgusting to see the exhaust from a diesel bus.
And the sky is full of electromagnetic power.
A iron cable run from the stratosphere to a turbine would bring
in mega-volts!

The oil isn't going to last forever.

Just saying!

Good God do you read Zen?

"Knowing nothing shuts the iron gates.
The sound of the gates opening wakes the beautiful woman inside.
Love opens her. Do not let this chance go bye!"

Kabir, (1398-1518 BC) an ecstatic Sufism poet she began writing at 15
and lived until 118 in a Hindu monastery in Calcutta.

"Silently my lover touches me and strikes the cord within me." Kabir.

Very well written Zen, Scooter.

I'm drawn into this drama. There is movement to "the thing most wanted"
as Hichtcock explained. You may notice that no what the central character
does you identify with him/her. In this case we want the narrator to succeed.

Oddly, I was reminded of Nixon's down fall; Watergate.
In 1972 President Richard Nixon sent CIA agents to break into
the Watergate offices of the Democratic Party.
The burglary was discovered and Nixon and his staff tried to
cover it up.
The House of Representatives forced the President to resign.
Imagine, a President of the United States ordering the CIA to commit
criminal acts and then trying to cover it up.

Secrets are hard to keep.

You know I was dreaming the same story?
Maybe, it's a message from God?
We should all reread our Co-Co-Cola can closely.
According Roman Catholic Doctrine Heaven is not corporeal.
So, whatever you see there is just an illusion.
There is nothing solid in Heaven.
God is a dream.

It sad, but most people don't know how to break up a bad relationship.
Your story is a familiar one.
I hope you have more self confidence and find someone, who will
support you.
Don't give up. Life has a way of balancing out.

Have you seen, Whispers in the Dark(Paramount 1992)?
It gives a great insight into self destructive behavior.
You are not alone.

I was expecting a Logan's Run story, but this is fun.
On a serious note I have given considerable thought
to animal rights. Why do we presume that livestock
does not have the same rights as we do?
If intelligence is what decides, who will be food for
dinner, then there are a lot of stupid people on the menu.

I think I'll have Charley the tuna tonight.
