I thought the same thing after retiring from the military, how could a hard-corps soldier write a book, can't be done. I proved myself wrong. However, I love to write and since then I have written six novels and a book of poetry. All are self-published and I did not write them for profit, I wrote them because I want to write...
You can do anything you want, it just takes the desire and determination...!

I know a bit of how you feel Jackenigut. My nephew was killed in a car wreck and I was with my sister throughout it. We cannot bring back a loved one, we can only hope that they are in the arms of a loving God. I felt the same with my close friends who were killed in battle. I can't bring them back, but God gives me sweet memories to go along with their loss.

Most everyone here are helpful and considerate, however, like any other place there are a few not-so-nice writers. You'll learn to stay clear of them. I noticed in you Bio that you want to be a writer? Don't ever let anyone say you can not be one. Writing is in the soul and for someone who loves to write, it's like a death sentence to tell them they can't. I have been writing off and on for many years and am still eager to put words to paper.
