I can see why this earned honorable mention. The story was compelling, keeping the reader engaged for the entire story. The character was one that gets the reader rooting for him. Having the armies turn out to be ants was unexpected and pleasant. I enjoyed reading this.

Review of Dear Friends

An adorable short story. The character was lovable and believable. Writing it from the perspective of a small child was entertaining. The "typos" added to the charm and maintained the perspective. The open ending and childlike honesty in the "letter" made the story even more adorable.

An entertaining poem. The imagery paints a rich, vivid picture of the frivolity of the elves. The flow was fun and jaunty, easy to follow along with. The reader can almost see the elves frolicking and playing in the darkness.I really enjoyed reading this.

A beautiful natural poem. I think it rose to and met the challenge. The imagery paints vivid, pastoral picture of storms. The flow is as easy as stroll in the park on a spring day. Breaking up the poem into sections makes it easier to read through it. I enjoyed it.

A dramatic and compelling short story. The dialogue was natural and believable. The characters were engaging and realistic. Leaving the question of if his family gets saved unanswered encourages the reader to create their own answer works effectively to engage the reader.

A very insightful poem. It illustrates the hypocrisy of religious fervor. The flow was steady and and easy to follow. The repetition on the theme of hatred of those that differ underscores the importance of tolerance and acceptance. I really enjoyed reading this.

An intriguing story/chapter. I am unclear if we are coming in later in the story. The character was compelling and believable. If the story is the beginning, I am not sure of the events leading to the situation they are in. The story is engaging, keeping the readers interest throughout.

A dramatic and poignant piece. The imagery illustrates the sense of loss and reflection. The pain of the death of a relationship, or even the loved one themselves is felt in every word in the poem. The flow easily picks up the reader and carries them through.

An entertaining short little story. Opening and closing with the same line brings it a full circle. The scene is tranquil and peaceful. It illustrates the importance of reconnecting with nature to find your own mind. I like how the character finds inspiration for his writing during his run in nature.

A perfect, brief poem for Halloween. The imagery effectively personifies the eerie sensation. I like how you add a new dimension to going to the movies. A lot of readers can relate to being scared of being alone at a horror movie. I really enjoyed reading this.

A very engaging story. The characters were well developed and believable. You managed to get the reader emotionally invested in the characters' lives in a brief amount of time. Ending it with the eradication of the trolls leaves the reader wanting to read even more stories about these two species. I really enjoyed it.

An insightful and respectful interview. Using a more narrative format instead of the typical question/answer format, made it more conversational and easier to digest. I feel like I really get to know Carly through this interview. The reader becomes emotionally invested in her. I enjoyed reading this, thank you for sharing it.

A very touching poem that tells an important story with an even more important message. The narrative is poignant and moving. The imagery of this disable vet achieves two objectives, the first one,is not to judge somebody by their current circumstances and appearance. The second one is the importance of honoring our veterans. Thank you for sharing this.

A very tranquil and romantic poem. Your love for the subject shines through strong and bright. In the third line, did you mean "I let my mind to rewind.." or "I let my mind rewind.." ? it works either way, just an observation of curiosity. The flow was smooth and easy to follow with. In the seventh line, did you mean, "Makes me warm with your thoughts!" or "Makes me warm with thoughts of you!"? Both lines work equally well, it only changes the perspective. I really enjoyed this poem.

A dramatic poem about the all-consuming desire to write. The imagery paints a vivid picture of the compulsion to write, but the struggle to keep motivated. The flow shows the conflict while maintaining a smooth path through the poem.
I think that most aspiring writers will be able to relate to this. I enjoyed reading this.

A very entertaining short story. The characters were realistic and believable. The story was compelling, leaving the reader engrossed in the fantasy. The switches between the real world and dream world was smooth and seamless. The only bit that I found confusing, was the repeated words about love and "him", if it was part of the dream or the real world. I enjoyed reading this.

A compelling teaser that makes the reader want to read more. In the opening line of the second paragraph, did you mean, " But, Cassy was taring that all down." or " But, Cassy was tearing that all down."? I love the idea of "Secret Society of Astronomers." The characters were engaging, causing the reader to want to learn more about them. I really enjoyed reading this.

You convey a deeply personal and important message in an open way, showing your vulnerability. I appreciate that it was probably difficult for you to share, so thank you.
