The detailed descriptions of "me Uncle Packy", complete with the "creaky sofa" with its "gnarly lumps" really creates a picture in the readers' mind about the writer's "unforgettable summer" spent with his aunt Semla and uncle Packy. Keep up the great work!
It is rare to see a poem that describes the difficulties of the writing process in such a clever and witty manner. I particularly liked the comparisons between writing and childbirth, and the comparison between the writer and the surgeon. Nicely done!
I've never heard of a Than Bauk type poem, so this was a real treat for me. It seems kind of like a haiku only with a more clever rhyme scheme. Furthermore, the message of mental peace seems entirely appropriate considering that the Than Bauk poem comes from Burma, a Buddhist country.
I never thought that a poem about clouds, the most ephemeral of natural phenomenon, could be this insightful while simultaneously eloquently describing the behavior of clouds in a way that is easily understood. Nicely done, and keep up the good work!
I don't think that I've ever read a poem about writing that is this detailed in its description of the actual creative process behind writing, complete with in depth, colorful descriptions like "a ripe tomato burst at the seams" that really fleshes out the narrative.
It's not often that you read about a homosexual encounter in all its lurid detail, but this account is a surprisingly nice read because it sets the scene very well, describing the super bowl party and the appearance and personalities of the attendees. Nicely done!
It's not often that people write good poetry on war and military triumphs, so it is refreshing to read a poem where military valor is given its due. The emphasis on freedom and glory really gives the piece an enthusiastic bent. Nicely done, and keep up the great work!
While wilderness related poetry is somewhat of a cliche, it is refreshing to read a poem on this well tread subject that is so well written. The vivid description used here really makes the reader feel as if he/she is outside, walking in a meadow in the moonlight.
It is very rare that I actually appreciate someone writing quite a bit while saying very little. Even though this sort of meandering is normally boring, you present it in a rather clever and funny way which I like. Nicely done, and keep up the good work.
This is an excellent piece about how friendship blossoms into love that lasts a lifetime, growing, strengthening, enduring, growing richer and sweeter as time goes on. I think this is a great start, and I hope to see what you can produce in the future.
This is weird and great at the same time, it reminds me of a cross between the Terminator series, Planet of the Apes, and Animal Farm! This is zany, funny, and I can't wait to see what comes next in the story of the Resistance against the Alpaca-lypse!
Aside from the entertaining rhyme scheme, this piece covers new territory by exploring the futility inherent in attempting to capture the beauty of nature in art or literature, despite the skill of the individual artist or writer in question. Nicely done!
It's not often that you read a poem about hate and come away with a positive impression, but this piece works nicely. Referencing sunrise and sunset and "every breath" made the tone much darker, but it is appropriate given the subject matter. Nicely done!
This is an interesting take on the importance of lines and the significant emotional consequences of the divisions that they can create in the human heart, even if they were drawn arbitrarily, by foolish people, and ultimately, should not mean anything.
This is a very interesting and very inspiring poem that illustrates how helpful faith can be in navigating the endless possibilities, trials, tribulations, frustrations, uncertainties, stresses, and confusions of everyday life. Altogether, nicely done!
Despite being a short piece, this accurately explains the frustrations of many a subordinate worker forced to do dishonorable things at the behest of an unscrupulous manager concerned only with the enriching the corporate bottom line and pleasing the employer.
Though the rhyme scheme and unusual subject matter make this poem interesting to read, it borders on confusing with its lack of elaboration regarding the wicked monkeys, molecules, or moonbeams, and why any of them are important. Considering that the poem is entitled "Moonbeams and Monkeys" this seems like an important thing to emphasize.
This is an interesting story that explores how much emphasis the author places on the importance of inspiration, excitement, risk taking, hope, creation and love. That said, it may come off as treacly or overly sentimental to some more cynical readers.
This is an interesting story that explores the narrator's various emotional problems and tense interpersonal relationships, and his various attempts to ameliorate them, culminating in hospitalization. Though descriptive, the prose is a bit scattered, jumping from subject to subject with little in the way of effective transitions.
