Review of Growing Up
Review by Soulraider
In affiliation with SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUP
Rated: E | (4.0)

This is a nice poem about growing up. Digging clay with one's fingernails is a part of one's childhood. Letting the clay cook in the scorching sun is another way of enjoying the summer. Spades are put in to dig the clay. The children also fall asleep under the sheets and beach chairs. The poetry shows the carefree nature of childhood and how we are so adept at having a mind that is free of worry. Teacups are empty so are the beach chairs. The games one dreams up are so much very real. The poetry is very much about being a child and enjoying it.

This is a nice story. A story about a woman trapped with her abusive husband. She is good at Bingo and wants to live in France. She wonders if she will make in the big game. She waits for her numbers and wins big time. Nan her friend is amused by her but doesn't know her plight or that she wished to live in France. Her victory eventually becomes her ticket to France. The story makes us think how her husband Jack is only interested in his dinner and not in her. He dresses up in his suit, but it is for someone else. the story is quite adept at conveying the idea behind it. Of a struggling woman wanting to go her way.

Review of Do I Know You?
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.0)

This is good poetry. Someone sitting close by. Someone the poet knows, adores and is fascinated by. This someone is what we are amazed by. He claims he knows her well. Will he be able to make up to her?. he claims to know her, even if he is blind. He wants to make her his own. He wonders if he knows his muse well. He knows she loves to teach. He knows she loves to walk on the beach. He feels she is part of his soul. She makes him feel whole. He claims to know her as being solely his. he claims her to be the apple of his eye. She is his enter of affection. The poetry seems like a love ballad.

This is a good article. The Rising Stars program is a next step for many writers wanting to make a mark at WDC. Having trouble with one's grammar and syntax can make wobble on their writing path. Being from a non native English speaking can be another hurdle. Eight months are good enough for a writer to train and come up with learning skills for the The Rising Stars program. The coming period will decide the writer's fate as whether he/she would make it into the Rising Stars program. The article makes us think about all the challenges out there-flash fiction, writer's cramp and Rising Stars program, that make WDC so challenging.

Review of Late Nights
Review by Soulraider
In affiliation with SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUP
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)

This is a nice poem. The poetry talks about late nights and how they shape our day light hours. Bottles and bars, darkened eyes, a man, a marriage-all make up how the nights are colored. A son of someone. A job a family is out there, but the man is not be seen. Insults are posted and someone comes in drunk. A fight ensues in the dead of the night. A funeral and a casket is taken out as someone is dead from a sharp knife. The poetry makes us think how we are taken over by acts in the night. All this transpires under neon lights.

Review of I stray
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.0)

This is nice poetry. A union with the lord in mind and heart is a nice thing. It can brighten one's mind and soul. The poet says he strays away from him for so many reasons. Some are his faults, some are his weaknesses, while others are reasons he fathoms as the poetry goes. The poetry makes us think how we have many reasons to take our mind off from the almighty's chosen way. Our troubles and our mind's trappings are enough to make us stray. A prayer a day can help to reconnect with the lord. The poetry is beautiful as it talks of the human condition. We are bound to stray and reunite with him.

This is a nice and a bit weird story. A boy meets a girl and they discuss farts. The fart runs in the girl's family. Her dad is part of Chicago Charter of Farters Anonymous. Len is surprised her father is such a distinguished man. She says its the onions on the hamburgers. Perfume and deodorant spray is around for farters. It makes their lives easier. Brigit says the food is chilli with lots of beans. It can make anyone fart. The two have a lot of discussion on gas. The story is different and hence amusing.

Review of Clowning Around

Rated: E | (4.0)

This is a good story. Clowns amuse us. They can also scare us. Spiders are as scary. Gwen and Trishy discuss what clowns become ones their face mask comes off. They wonder the same for Leopards. Trishy will think about clowns while climbing rocks. She will remember clowns that don't take off their makeup. There are poisonous spiders around too. Trishy sidesteps Gwen with a another question. Gwen thinks Trishy will make a good politician. The two are very much into discussing the odds and outs of their feeling for clowns.

Review of Holiday at Home
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.0)

This is nice poetry. It seems holidaying with cats and kittens can be quite amusing. The children are home. The wife gives up her job to give company. The man has to look after the cat. Mother in law is to be looked after by her daughter. A fishing trip is added to the schedule. The poetry shows how we are totally caught up when at work. A holiday seems like the end of troubles, but it brings in more things on the schedule. Family members don't seem too glad about the poet's holidays. It is a vacation with the company of cats.

Review of Myself and I
Review by Soulraider
In affiliation with SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUP
Rated: E | (4.0)

This is good poetry. Myself and I are too states of a human mind. One is perhaps a Mr.Jekyll and the other is a Mr.Hyde. There are two faces and they are conflicting or in a tussle with each other. The poetry makes us think how we handle our different personalities. They are very much part of us. And they disagree with each other. There is conflict. Perhaps, in the end the faces would have to agree with each other. The poetry is symbolic of our own tension within us. The "yesses" and the "Nos". Our own indecision comes to the forth.

This is nice poetry. A Cinquain is a form taken from Japanese Haiku and Tanka. The poetry is very brief. A cross as a symbol of sacrifice, pain, suffering, of love and the dark period of sin makes us aware of its place in our lives. The victory that ensues eventually is perhaps what the cross represents. It is very symbolic of our our struggle through dark phases and our minds turning to sin. How we stay upright is what the cross stands for. The grave is cold. So is death. It is an eventuality. An end of a chapter. Resurrection is of the soul.

Review of 44 approaching 45
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.5)

This is nice poetry. The approaching age is always something that makes us wistful. Life passing by and younger years having gone past can make you feel downcast. The many things that occupy one's mind is brought out in the poetry. This is very true for people in their 40's with children, their jobs, their past years, watching their children grow and looking forward to their 50's and 70's as age approaches. Going over to McDonald's with the kids, playing Tetris, and surviving disaster movies and marriages is another fete. The poetry makes us realize how our daily lives are so much about us and how we are no longer kids.

Review of That Night
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.0)

This is a nice story. A huge expanse of green with yellow eyes can be an entity not known before. It can be threatening and it can create fear in any man. Al and Frank are looking out for diners but business is low. There worst fears come true when they see the "thing" heading towards them. They are not sure if it means harm but they are pretty scared of it. They hope its not out to eat them. The story creates terror and fear. This is essential to create suspense and climax at such a short notice.

This is a good story. Ghosts feeding on innocents seem like the stuff of Halloween. A fifteen year old girl has the courage to fight back. An elf has given her this power. The story is short and could have been more elaborate. As it is a contest entry it is shorter than usual. The people wait for the next murder spree. The elf has to locate the girl. Will the group of kids be able to do what they seek has to be seen. Ghosts and their obsession with getting back at humans make many an interesting story.

Review of Legacy
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.0)

This is nice poetry. An infant is compared to the darkness of death. This is especially true if there has been a death in the family or is about to happen. An infant's cherry cheeks stands as a contrast. He is unaware or would be aware much later of the pathos that surrounds him. Death makes us feel gutted. It makes us feel defeated. An infant's eyes gives a ray of hope. An infant's finger's clasps his Grandma's thumb. An infant is lost in his innocence. He is the legacy of our mind. He is our forerunner.

Review of Going forward
Review by Soulraider

Rated: 13+ | (4.0)

This is nice short piece of writing about one's personal experiences with tragedies. People we know, we discover them on Facebook or on twitter. It brings back memories and we think how they have grown into something else. It is perhaps our fondness for people that makes us look up their page. Logan and his family was dear to the author and she liked thinking about them. The author moves on to another station in life. She still remembers Logan and is fond of him.The story is an eye opener and shows how we keep in touch through social media sites and how they have become crucial in our lives.

Review of Georgia Smiles
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | N/A (Review only item.)

This is a nice acrostic in display. The words and lines have been crafted with intelligence. Georgia as the poet's daughter is initiated to new things as she grows up. She discovers new things, so does her mother. This is a journey they both undertake. There is fascination how our young ones grow up. This is perhaps our own learning curve. A learning that happens many more years after we have grown into full blown adults. This is our own rediscovery of our selves. The poetry is indicative of parenthood and the joys it brings along.

This is nice poetry. Patriotism is eulogized. It is praised and shown in a favorable light. The veteran recounts his days. How he bombed Afghanistan and fired scuds on Iraq. He is willing to shed blood for his country. He wants to speak out now. He regrets his actions he committed in Afghanistan and Iraq. He wonders whether it is patriotic to speak about his regrets or should he keep mum. The poetry shows how patriotism plays in the minds of soldiers. How they spend their lives dedicated to their countries. A regret in the end is a doubt of how their actions might have hurt others.

Review of Papa's Fence
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.5)

This is a good story. The father warns the son to never cross the fence. He is eighteen now and he thinks whats the harm. The property is perhaps too large and he is too tied up with it. There are hidden dangers lurking in the forest. The black nothingness is not explained. It is perhaps a void the person falls into. The wooden fence was perhaps the demarcator of the weird things that existed in the woods. Why he is still falling into the nothingness is not explained. The story makes us think how weird things can be and the abstractness of it.

Review of MEMORIES
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.0)

This is nice poetry. A soul sister is dear to the author. She is very close to the heart. They share memories and are chums. The article or story should be more in the format of a poem. It gives information, but it has to be set in the form of a poem. Poetry should look like it even if it sounds like one. Memories are precious and dear to the heart. The author lets his close one to close her eyes. She has to make the tough decision. The story is indicative of the dearness the author has for his close one.

Review of An Arm Beneath
Review by Soulraider
In affiliation with SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUP
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)

This is good poetry. An arm is attributed the character of terror and fear. It lives in the cemetery and stalks out in the night. Death moves on its face. It commits crimes as it gets out of its grave. Bodies lie around as it commits them to the soil. There is a shrill cry and a scream in the eerie night in the cemetery. An arm does the work of murderous men. It creates horror and terror in us. More so if we can see it moving out of its grave. It can create a scare. Death is in its trail. An arm has what a man does. Or is it the arm that is the man?.

This is nice poetry. It has rhyme and rhythm to it. Esther as a beauty and her story is recited. Ester has loyalty and duty. She does it with devotion. She saves the Jews. She is an adopted child of Mordochai. Mordochai was eventually promoted in court. Esther is proclaimed as the queen of the Jews. She arranges a feast for the king and for Haman who is the beast. The poetry is a biography of Esther who is the benefactor of Jews. The poetry makes us think of our role among people. How we we can stand out like Esther who outdoes others.

Review of Which Man
Review by Soulraider
In affiliation with SIMPLY POSITIVE GROUP
Rated: ASR | (4.0)

This is a nice piece of writing. The woman admires a man sitting on one of the chairs. She prepares a character sketch of the man. She perhaps adores him. Another man comes in and she changes her gaze to him. The first man returns to her. This is perhaps because she kept staring at him. The account is interesting as it makes us think how we study people in public places. How we train our gaze and make a mental sketch of them. The first man who tries to talk to her does not hold any index cards. This relives her.

This is nice poetry. Trump and the many like him corrupt the world. Their thoughts and beliefs are radical and stupefying. The former presidents George Bush attacked Iraq and was a rogue, so was his follower the rapist Bill Clinton. All these men knew only the language of shamelessness and had a tendency to take the world for granted. White supremacy is false, slavery was wrong, persecuting red Indians is buffoonery. All ills of America are due to its wrong look out of the world, which is very beautiful, but their blindness makes it stark naked to their eyes.

Review of Hollywood Ending
Review by Soulraider

Rated: E | (4.0)

This is nice poetry. A happy Hollywood ending is desired by all. Our enemies may conspire to go against us. There is always a threat of our dreams going to ashes by our detractors. A happy ending provides balm to the soul. Our soul is at risk. The poetry tells us about everything that is good in life and how we are attracted to it. How we want our lives to be happy and do not want the clouds of darkness to cover it. A golfer wins as a rookie. Hope wins in the finality. A happy Hollywood ending is a desire we have.
