Hi, Deborah!
Enjoyed reading your encouraging article: "Writing Questions Answered". A lot of helpful insights and suggestions for the novice writer, as well as, reminders for those more experienced.
I have had a lot of ideas for short stories and novel series over the years, but have yet to develop them fully and actually create a story or begin a novel series. Various situations going on in my life have held me back, as situations tend to do, whether it's writing interests and goals, or other interests and goals. One of the reasons I've joined Writing.com, Deborah, is to start fresh using my writing gifts in the direction of completing those story and novel series ideas.
My main writing accomplishments up to now have been in the areas of non-fiction writing, editing, graphic designing, proof-reading, and songwriting. In 1978, I began editing, writing for, and graphically designing a series of church newsletters, which got my feet wet with writing, giving me an outlet for developing and encouraging my interests in writing. In addition to those church newsletters, Deborah, I joined a local Ohio writers group: The Ashland Area Christian Writers Guild and became the Editor in Chief and Graphic Designer for its group publication named: REFLECTIONS, which featured all kinds of articles on writing, being a Christian, poetry and life experiences of the members of the group, as well as, a few short stories. The lady who lead this writers group, April Boyer, retired from that position after a few years, and there was no one among its members able or willing to take over for April, so the group disbanded as a group, but members still get together occasionally for fellowship and fun at a restaurant or in each other's homes.
For a few years while I was still living in Ashland, I had the opportunity to proofread a locally published Christian magazine named Business Reform, having been offered this job through my friendship as a Christian brother with its Editor in Chief. This only lasted, it turned out, for about a year, as the magazine went from hard copy, as well as, internet versions, to a completely internet magazine and corporation, which didn't need me to proofread the published editions anymore, so I was down-sized out of doing that. Business Reform already had other proofreaders doing their proofreading for the internet version of the magazine, so I wasn't offered a new position among their internet staff.
So, there's a little background on the types of writing I've been involved with so far, and what I else I would like to do with my writing interests and gifts.
