I have just begun reading your story here, and will continue on. I have to say that, at first, I was taken back and confused in your first paragraph because I saw you refer to a 'she', but then I read about a 'he' without an introduction to Christian until the 2nd paragragh. I have mixed feelings on this...while I agree with these thoughts and information you relay...by the way, this was relayed very well...you placed here about black slaves, but in truth, blacks were not the only slaves...You comparison of enslavement works rather well here as food for thought, however. You have really spoken volumes in this, and that is very hard to do with poetry and such. I like also how you placed the $ signs in representing the greed you are speaking of, even indirectly. I saw some spelling errors...e.g. (appriciate ...appreciate)..it was definitely from the heart, although it raised the question in my mind(thank you) of how often people just call on this Source in dire need and not just every day?! Each day, before I open my eyes, I give thanks for being allowed to live another in order to serve the purpose He has planned for me and as my gift back...my entire day is my gift. Whatever good I can do in that day for anyone or in any way, it is my gift back for all that is given me. Even the negative experiences, be grateful for! These are your gifts! Excellent thoughts here relayed. A poem I can relate to for it seems I had a similar childhood. It seems to me that you(speaking in general here) seem to become stronger and the better person for it. I personally have learned compassion in this lifetime. We all have Choice!!! This is something I have floating on my computer screen saver when it is not in use. This titled captured my attention because it has been something in my life that I have come to realize we are all here for. I have written on such a thought. The thought of Jesus carrying the cross to his ultimate destiny comes to mind when I was reading what you had placed in the end there of getting back up...shaking yourself off and remembering your purpose. I felt sadness in this because obviously there is pain, but not in the body...more so the heart. I never did like the word 'crippled'...for some reason, for me, that implied that the person wasn't capable of doing anything and they considered themselves 'handicapped'. Again, handicap seems to imply you are incapable, but I know too many who are in wheel chairs that may not be able to walk, but they sure can do alot more than I can. To those I say...I envy YOU! Some great speakers and leaders that I know are in wheel chairs. I personally feel you have great writing ability. Keep it up!
