Review of Autumn Leaves
Review by Tornado Day
In affiliation with Circle of Sisters
Rated: E | (5.0)

Dearest anastasia beyverhausen ~

Perhaps my favorite time of year is Autumn, with its
red and orange blazes, swirling lifeless
swimmers caught in a sea of cool breeze.

It is a time of reflection,
rebirth, and letting go.

With few words, you give the writer insight to that
time of year - the season of colors changing. The image added
to the nostalgic feel of this piece.

My only thought is that I wish this had been longer. Then
might I have walked among swirls of fire. *Leaf*

what swirling sea
of reds and gold
shall move the tired soul
to write
of blossoms when the leaves
were green
and buds burst
summer light

as now their arms
are empty
maple mourns
beside the oak
for new another season past
to ones we're still
o know

Thank you for sharing. *Leafg*

*Suitheart*

Much Love,

Review of On This Path

Dearest anastasia beyverhausen ~

I must admit that I am typically not one for form.
My own attempts with form have been unsuccessful
when the focus on form caused me to lose something
of the words given me.

I hesitated to even select this poem for I recognized
it to be written with regard to form. I expected forced words
and rhyme. I expected something less than to be impressed.

With few words, you have delivered insight into
powerful emotions - such that come with reflection.
Not only reflection, but concern for the choice of a new
path....a path that will assuredly lead to be a better
tomorrow. *Rainbowl**Rainbowr*

Your addition of image added to the beauty of this piece
as well. For moments, I was transported to another world -
one of gardens, romance, paths and literature.

Exquisite writing, and adherence to form.

Review of All That's Needed
Review by Tornado Day
In affiliation with Circle of Sisters
Rated: E | (5.0)

Dear Pat ~

I wasn't sure what to read next, and opened a couple of things
that seemed too short for me to truly provide a good
review of. *sigh*

Finally, I closed my eyes and clicked my mouse *Suitheart*

And this is where I landed.

I don't believe in coincidence. We are exactly where we
are meant to be. And I was meant to find this piece that is
(in some ways) about prayer...

but in other ways, it is about trust.

I'm quick to say I'm turning things over to God, but then
before a day has gone by, I've taken it back. I would deny
it's about trust. It's just that I want quicker results, and
I like knowing or at least having some idea of how things are
going to turn out. *Clock*

I'm a control freak!!! I admit it. *Bigsmile*

But in my quiet understanding, I also know I am
dillusional.

I never took it back. I never had it. If anything,
I just made it more difficult to see the results of God's
wisdom - wisdom based on love for us.

I wear a watch always. It's my foolish attempt to
convince myself that I'm in control of something.
I've spent nights in my life worrying over what tomorrow
would or wouldn't bring. I've cried over the thought
that I would lose someone near to me or that
sorrow would visit those I love.

Maybe that's what prayer is really about. It's a verbal
reminder to us that we are God's children; that He does know
best what we need. Even while we sleep, He watches over
us - knowing every hair on our head. *Suitheart*

now I lay me
down to sleep
I pray the Lord
my soul to keep
if I should die
before I wake
I pray the Lord
my soul to take

We pray because we realize the wisdom in trusting Him.

Thank you, Pat. With a few words, you have reminded me
of all I know to be true. He 'has our back'.

Review of This Craziness

Dear Pat ~

Boy, you can say that again!!

I've often wondered how God acquired such a disturbing
sense of humor. Through children and family, we are given
moments of hell, and glimpses of heaven.

We lie awake wondering whether we can ever get beyond
the latest turmoil - the latest catastrophe - the latest
embrassment. *Blush*

We nurse hurts,
and heal kittens...
we wash out clothes in the tub
and replace a bumper with duct tape
we listen to music we don't understand
and pretend we have vision
into the future that exists beyond
a broken heart
we teach
and we learn
and we love *Suitheart*

Who wants sanity? NOT ME! In our imperfections,
we become perfect!

What is the quote 'we put the fun back in dysfunctional'.
LOL! I sometimes figure they were definitely talking
about my family, but so far I haven't found a person
that doesn't understand.

If there is a family without the struggle that comes
from living and loving, I am positive I don't want to know
them. *Bigsmile*

Thank you, Pat. This is a deeply honest and personal
read. I am thankful you shared it with us (or with me so that
once again, I am reassured of my normalcy).

Dear Pat ~

I don't know the relationship this speaks to, and yet
I can't imagine a woman who doesn't know it in some way.

There isn't a woman that hasn't suffered through the
agony of words she didn't deserve or allegations she was
never guilty of.

There's not a mother who hasn't known the harsh words
of a spouse or of a child. Not a one.

We take
and we take...
and we pretend we are the least of concerns...

we forgive in public
and weep where no one can see...

we wonder if it's true that we deserve it

we trace the scars,
the trail of cruel words and open palms...
we retreat into the promise
of tomorrow's roses...

*Suitheart*

I don't know why. I have volunteered with a women's shelter,
and know that abused women are beaten an average of
seven times before they leave. Before they leave the first
time.

We believe the fairytale. We believe it will never happen
again, but always we watch and wait, preparing ourselves
for the next time it will never happen.

I feel odd saying thanks for sharing because of the dark
nature of this piece. And yet, I know this is a world that few
can speak of. Few would be able to give such an
emotional view of suffering with words of love and
beauty. I am thankful for the gift of your talent,
and moreso, for the gift that is your heart. *Suitheart*

Review of Absence of Time
Review by Tornado Day
In affiliation with Circle of Sisters

Dear Pat ~

Funny how much we have in common.

*Suitheart*

I can almost hear the waves against the shore. I close
my eyes and in a moment, the salty allure of the sea comes
to me. I hear the breeze and the gulls. I feel the sun
warm on my skin, and I am there with you.

*Suitheart*

There have been times when I was working in my yard
(a good 7 hours from the beach) and yet the wind was blowing,
and the sound of leaves touching leaves was that of the
shore. It was if another place could share the essence
that is the sand and the ocean, with her feel of rebirth
and restoration.

*Suitheart*

In two more months, my husband and I will make our
yearly journey to the beach. For those days, my only
desire is to 'be'. With a book and an umbrella, I never tire
of the sand or the pounding of the surf. Even now, I imagine
the tiniest sandpiper dancing within the foam.

In our life, we have found those moments of grandeur. We
know of gifts that are surely from the heart of God.

Such is the majesty of the ocean; of sunrise caught
in waves of blue and green. That is true BEAUTY! *Suitheart*

were letters written to the sea
by sunsets ruby red
who sang the songs
remembered to the shore
what far away
has drifted now to gather
into sand
what heaven yet to be
could be much more

*Suitheart*

Thank you for sharing this, another piece of the treasures
you keep. I am blessed by the simplicity of this piece, and
am honored at a glimpse into your heart.

Dear Pat ~

I already know this will be my favorite.

*Suitheart*

You have captured perfectly what I believe to be an
undeniable truth. With a simple choice of words, you
have gifted my soul.

Regardless the skills of man or the
materials at hand, there is no grander cathedral
than the stretch of limbs that span a forest.

*Suitheart*

No organ could compare to the magesty of songbirds,
or replicate the delicate tune of rain falling on leaves. *Bird*

*Suitheart*

Years ago, I spent many a weekend on the river
in either a canoe or a raft. There was a place nearby
for campers, and often I would stay behind
at camp while others navigated the rapids.

In those moments, I would recline on a chase
beside the fire. I would revel at the wonder around me,
the evergreen and blossom. The air was clearer
and though many wouldn't understand, in those moments,
I felt nearest to God. *Angel*

The light was purer and as a result, couples stopped
bickering, babies stopped crying, and from some distance,
you could hear the sound of water to rocks, laughter
freed to living.

I am convinced that God lives and thrives in those
places. In the wonder He created, He reveals to us the
love, the purity, the one that He is. *Suitheart*

We have been given a wondrous gift, Pat. We've been
given a place where we can be refreshed and strengthened.

In solitude, we can hear the whisper of angels living
among the pines. *Suitheart*

Thank you for this exquisite piece, and for reminding me
of the places where I am most at home, and where home
is most a part of me.

Beautiful!!!

Review of She Is A Rock
Review by Tornado Day
In affiliation with Circle of Sisters

Dear Pat ~

I don't know your sister, but I know her.

*Suitheart*

I've seen her in the eyes of the widows who come
to my church and stand by the door, strong and brave.
I've seen her at the mission, filling plates
and offering smiles of assurance.

*Suitheart*

She is the face of grace. In her pain,
she has found strength. Her sorrows are made less
when she reaches for another. And when she faces
adversity, most have no words of comfort...

for she is the strong one - the one with all the answers.
When the world is falling apart, she is detailing a plan
on a soiled napkin. When others see the end,
she anticipates the new beginning. She knows that nothing
bad EVER lasts forever. She is a rock. She is a diamond.

*Suitheart*

Without knowing her, I know she and I are much alike. We
are the 'fixers'; the cornerstones; the lighthouses.

My favorite quotes speak to the woman you describe so
well.

"There will come a time when you believe everything
is ended. That will be the beginning." *Sun*

"Life isn't about navigating the storms. It's about learning
to dance in the rain." *Flowerv*

and

"The barn's burned down - now I can see the moon." *Bird*

The tough part of being the fixer is that everyone expects you
to know how to fix yourself. When you need it most, you don't
know how to let others heal you. In some ways, you
deny them the opportunity to love you. Accepting of the gift
you give freely is difficult, but essential.

She is a soft place to fall.

*Suitheart*

Thank you for sharing your sister. I pray you gave her these words
so that she would know not only of your love for her, but of
your admiration and understanding of both her joys
and her sorrows.

Thank you, Pat. This is an exquisite and emotional read.

Dear Friend ~

I have often thought to this same truth....

of the places beside us and inside of us
where He lives...

where He waits for us to recognize the wonder that He is,
the beauty that He is......
the child in us that He is....

We span the stars searching for answers that we hold within.......

At times, I wonder if we focus too much on saving the world....when maybe we should start
with just that which fits in our hand...... *Suitheart*

When I selected this picture from my wide assortment of photos for this month's contest, it was the exact same feeling that you describe -- that of being renewed -- of being one with the wind, with the universe.

Thank you for finding in this photo the words I would have given it, that of a solitary dance between the blades of grass, swirling arm and arm with nature. I love your interpretations.

I wish I could say that I have never known a woman who was abused; that I had never held a friend and quieted the shaking devastation of a jealous lover, husband, father...

I wish I could understand, but am glad that I don't... I am glad that I don't know love that comes wrapped in red roses and golden boxes. I hurt for those who trust the pain as proof of love....

Dearest BScholl ~

I'd tell you what a wonderful work of fiction this is if it weren't all to real, and not fiction at all. Each time society labels someone a 'monster', I wonder how many reflect on what they might have done to help someone who is 'broken' before they become the breaker. Although there always those individuals for which the time for helping is past, there are others whose only 'wrong' is being different from us...

the homeless
the mentally ill
the abused
the outcast (orphans, widows, old, disabled)
the handicapped

So often, we think we can do nothing to change someone's lot in life. What we fail to comprehend is just how powerful we can be with the extension of a hand, or the offer of a word, with a voice of love rather than turning away.

*Heart*

Dearest Oldwarrior ~

I salute you! *Star*

I'm a true believer in the power of love to conquer any adversary, and hate that there is need for war. But I am also wise enough to know that it is never that easy, and sometimes we must stand up for what we believe. Sometimes, we must stand up against wrong (else we become just as wrong).

As a general rule, I suspect there are far too many people who enjoy the benefits of living in this country without ever comprehending (much less appreciating) those who suffered and sacrificed so that we could. Nothing is free.

With the freedom and liberty I know from being an American, comes the responsibility of supporting those who give their all so that saying that means something. Were it not for soldiers, we would have no country - no schools, no jobs, no dreams, no freedom! Thank you... *Star*
