Review of Ribcage
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
This was a surprising poem. I didn't know what to expect. I believe the ribcages here are the casks that hold aging wine in dark and cool areas. The rhythm and rhyme were very good and I enjoyed reading this piece. It can also be a metaphor for something else which I am still trying to figure out. I keep reading it over and over. It's making me think. Nice work.

Review of DONUT
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
This was a wonderful poem about one of my favorite guilty pleasures, donuts. Most varieties are pretty good, but the glazed and jelly filled varieties are among my top picks. I didn't know one could create such a pleasurable poem dedicated to the humble donut, but this is a success. Nice form and wording. Delicious.

This looks like a delicious recipe I am eager to try. There is always copious amounts of turkey left over after holiday meals, because my mother doesn't believe in baking a small turkey. I love the flavors here with the option to make the dish spicier with added jalapeños. Thank you!

Review of Pumpkins
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
I really enjoyed this poem from beginning to end. It was very descriptive and I easily imagined the colorful falling leaves of the autumn season. Then of course is Halloween, with carved pumpkins and the fear of darker things. The form was great and the lines flowed nicely in this piece. Well done.

I began to read this poem thinking it was about being on time. I tried very hard to understand the point being made here but I was not able to follow the different directions it seemed to be going in. Maybe another stanza or two would help. There seemed to be a good message here that I just couldn't grasp.

Curiosity pulled me into this piece of work. I once knew a man with a foot fetish but it never went to the extremes of this. It is evident that there is a great deal of love involved, and that is made clear when the wife talks at the end. There is a lot of detail here so anyone not understanding such a thing will get an idea of what it is that you like. Good job.

This was a fun read. I had the original song in my mind as I went through your words and everything fit well. I was smiling at the end. This new song is a little scary but it hits the mark well for Halloween. I think we should start teaching the kids this one! Nice job.

This poem is very emotional, as is your entire portfolio. You write beautifully, from the heart and soul. In your words I feel the wonder and bliss that is true love, and I feel the heartbreaking agony of your loss. I have been there, so I know. Being alone for many years after the loss of a great love, I know how it feels to be in darkness, to only feel cold emptiness and pain. I feel for you, and I hope the sun will shine upon you to warm the abyss.

Review of Lento Poem

What a lovely piece on Grandma's garden. It's very descriptive and has nice flow. I love the idea of the entire cycle of life, from the seeds being planted to the growing season to the harvest. Careful tending will bring great reward in the end. Very nicely done.

Review of Dangerous Mission
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
This dangerous mission held my attention captive right up until the end when I had to chuckle at Grampa's colorful language. I enjoyed this piece very much. It had good description and use of imagination. I hope the little alien beings got what they needed. Poor Grampa has to get a new plate of food.

Review of AUTUMN (2)
Review by Whitney

This little poem takes me back to all the lovely days of autumn I have enjoyed through the years. It's a fitting tribute to the changing seasons with falling colorful leaves and changing temperatures. I loved the imagery here and attention to detail. Nice work.

Review of My Soul
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
This little poem is full of meaning and emotion. I sensed the love felt by the writer, love for this woman he adores like she's an angel. She had a positive effect on him and he still cares about her. He wanted to find a happy outcome with her. But somehow he made a mistake and she is gone. I sense that he will miss her very much. Nice piece.

Review of Delicious fruit

What a lovely tribute to the humble orange, a healthy and tasty treat, a real gift from nature. I don't think I could have been quite as eloquent in my description as this enjoyable poem. Thank you for a fun and enjoyable read. I will think of it when next I encounter a sweet and juicy orange to eat.

Review of Homeless-Why?
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
Sometimes life deals us a hand that we never expect. In the blink of an eye everything could chance, whether it's our fault or not. The homeless have their own unique story to tell. It could be the loss of a job, a marriage, even faith in one's self. Walls of security can tumble down, leaving one alone and vulnerable. It's a sad, and often misunderstood situation. The homeless...who are they and how can we help?

This is a fantastic tribute to our veterans. I feel that they are not appreciated enough for all they have done for us and the security of our nation. We all could do so much more. Even just to say thank you like this lovely poem does could make a difference in the life of a veteran. Very nice.

Review of Take Hold
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
In a world where all too often people rely on the opinions of others as to how to live their lives, this piece expresses the importance of living true to yourself. Your dreams are for you to discover, to explore, to bring to fruition. All of us are unique in our own way. All of us have precious gifts to share. All of us have dreams worth living. Nice work.

Review of Fell

Having experienced loss myself I understand this poem very well. It touched me with all the great detail and reference to autumn with its falling leaves. It's a beautiful metaphor for all our dearest loved ones taken too soon from our lives. Nice job on this piece.

Review of Halloween Hike
Review by Whitney
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
This isn't a genre I normally dabble in but I was transfixed by this story. It held my attention from start to finish because of the great detail, which stirred my imagination. I felt like I was right there alongside the wandering people in the forest. I think I would have run though instead of investigating, but that's just me. Nice job.

Review of Aunty Helen
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
It is always a difficult thing to lose a loved one, especially when there is so much inner beauty and promise inside of them. For me this poem reflects the realization that your precious Aunty is no longer bound by the pain and suffering of earthly things but has entered a place of love and light, which she reflects brightly to all those who know and love her. Trust and have faith that you will see her again, and that she shines her love on you with the wish that you will have a good life, without the chains that have kept you bound. Living well is the best way to honor her. This is a lovely piece.

Review of The Rain
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
This poem is simple but effective with its rhythm and rhyme. It explores the different dynamics of rain, with the various sounds it makes and the effects it has on whatever it touches. It made me wish for rain because after reading this poem I do appreciate it more. Nice job.

This poem is a wonderful example of love across the miles and what it entails. Reading it I can imagine the ache of separation, the feeling of closeness even with the distance, and the devotion that comes from years of love and care. Nice little piece.

All the poems were good but I will focus on the 16 year old girl. It is indeed a shame that she lost her life, as it is always a waste when one so young barely gets a chance to bloom in this world. The added lesson about love and kindness was an added bonus. If we all shared a little bit of love with others, the world would be a better place. Just lovely all around.

Review of THE WOODS
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (4.5)
This simple piece lends itself to viewing some of our darkest fears, like the darkest forest. Are we afraid because we have been conditioned by media to fear the dark woods? Or is there a real threat? Chances are the crackling of a twig is just a night dweller of the woods. It could be a raccoon, a fox, a deer. But because we have seen so much violence on the screen we automatically sense danger when there most likely isn't any. This poem brought me to the woods where I felt the fear of the unknown. Nice work.

Review of Frustration
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (4.5)
This poem hit home for me, because I have felt frustration time and again when I wasn't able to help a loved one. Sometimes it was for simple things when I thought common sense should be followed but my loved one wouldn't heed my advice. If I could have jumped in to fix the problem I would have. Other times it was for more serious matters like addictions. I wanted so much to make things right but there was nothing I could do. To interfere would cause anger and resentment. The only thing I could do when my hands were tied was to pray. There was no other relief for my frustration. Whether the problem was fixed or not, it didn't matter. I needed the support of the Lord to help me as well as my loved one. In time all things work out like they are meant to. It's just nice knowing we are not alone when we want to help. Often when we fall short the Lord will step in if we ask. When I see the results I know I was right to have faith. Simple but meaningful poem. Nice job.

Review of Jesus Christ.
Review by Whitney
Rated: E | (5.0)
This is a beautiful piece. I am a believer and my faith is strong, so I really enjoyed reading your words describing the Savior who came to give us life. As I get older I find that I turn to Him more and more as well. I realize that I have had His gentle protection all through my life, even if I didn't see it at the time. This is a very honorable tribute.
