We spend so much time trying to have confidence in our government. When Katrina hit it was a disaster. The response from the government was a disaster as well.
I remember, too well, seeing those people all gathered inside the stadium just wanting water.
WATER. For Pete sake the looks on their faces as the people walked around. Some on boats trying to save others. Some actually wading through the water. People who cared enough. Trapped on their roofs.
I know God tests us from time to time. These are the times we are suppose to put our brothers and sisters well being first and foremost.
All those talking heads saying how awful it was but they didn't get down and dirty to help. Did they?

Ok. You really had me going.
A fancy affair.
A blind date that seemed to be working out.
A handsome couple that caught the eye of on lookers.
There are so many possible endings. They walked off into the sunset. The left in a limo. They were crowned king and queen of the prom etc.
For Pete's sake; you are one sneaky writer.

I must admit I had to read it over again to see how it all fit together differently than expected.

The author remind us that love is unpredictable and full of emotions. Sometimes it's wonderful and other times it is hard to figure out.

We have a king with a queen that loved him. He was tempted by the curse of a greener kingdom. If he choose to, he could quickly change his life. Apparently his queen had been cursed as well. Her king couldn't make up his mind what he wanted.
Well, she couldn't take it any longer. She had all he really needed but he wanted more.
A sad ending for his queen but a new beginning for the king.

Our author put a dream to pen to create this. Not bad.

Sometimes love just isn't enough.

Our author brings us a 'wake me up' piece this beautiful day. There are so many things in this world and in our lives that go unnoticed.
Mentioning a mellow breeze on a spring day; is one of those things we simply take for granted.

We just assume another will come when we do give it a thought.
There is only one in charge of that blessing and that is our Lord.
For Pete's sake people look with your hearts and not with just you eyes.
Find the miracle that is.

I like this piece.
It is a reminder to stop taking things for granted and cherish every single moment.

Boy, does this bring back memories. Those cares were like tanks. Safe and secure inside. My favorite was the 57 Chevy. White tuck and roll.
Red and sparkling hubs.
There was a road outside of town that we would us for racing. Man was that a sight. The small town cops didn't even bother us. Everybody knew everybody.
Then the driving up and down main street with only one traffic light.
Yes the Dairy Queen and the occasional fight.

She is alone and trying to adjust to being left behind. Young love seems so magic and then it's over. She is crushed and he has moved on with his dreams. She calls it a nightmare and implies that 'there is a real nightmare' in her body.
Could she be pregnant?
Is that why she is so scared?

He was the lone survivor after the fighting. He had to keep his head clear enough to signal a chopper to take the dead and wounded back to base. After making his way through the bodies and grabbing extra ammo.
Two flares might work. Then he heard a noise.
He dropped down and pretended to be one of the dead. One remaining enemy soldier walking around.

There they were two enemies on the battle ground of the dead. Looking at their comrades and probably wondering why.

Our character got back home and tells about surviving the fight and doing what was necessary.

This war, the jungle fighting.
So many things were working against our guys.
The tunnels, land mines.
We need a piece like this every now and then to help remember the fallen in the h--ll.

He left his ranch a long time ago to see what the world had to offer. He was lonely on the ranch and might have been looking for excitement. Finding plenty of adventures over the years; he comes back to the ranch. His parents are gone and the ranch has become run down. So now he reflects on what to do.
Apparently his brain is a bit foggy and confused.
While looking out the window he sees the fog on the mountains lifting. He can see clearly now. Could this be a sign for him?
Saying goodbye to his life before isn't so hard now because he has so much living to do.

This was her first turkey. Everything looked perfect for her coming guests. She claimed she was too nervous to eat. Meanwhile the guests were having a grand old time. One neighbor came she argued with before. Her old best friend showed up as well.
People started getting sick and she called for help.

Could it be just my suspicious nature or did she plan this?

A man is afraid of so many things. Eventually the fear keeps him for doing anything outside his own home. This apparently was his safe sanctuary for the dangers out in the world.
Granted he was alone.
Granted he had a TV.
Apparently he didn't feel safe enough to open his front door which allowed him to starve to death.
So in the end fear of living actually killed him.
So remember if you let fear rule your life, you give up your ability to live.

A young man is trying to deal with the ups and downs of his lady. She goes from happy to angry in a split second. From the tone of the piece is sound like the guy is a bit afraid to open his mouth.
He can't understand how she can flip so quickly.
Angry over mundane things.
A friend listens but has no advice.
Even the friend is perplexed with her actions.
The friend wishes the guy luck.
We all know love never runs smoothly but sometimes it doesn't run at all.

A bit of humor felt here.
Some confusion is felt on the part of the guy as well.

Two friends meet and one has some news. They had been friends for a long time.
The news will change so many things. The distance and time will be hard to deal with for each of them.
Being a part of each others life for so long makes goodbye so very sad.
She tells him she will be gone in a week and it breaks his heart.
He must make this the moment he makes his feelings known.
She had no idea that he loved her but she belongs to another. The last thing he said is he will wait. She knows in her heart he will.

The piece feels so natural.
You captured the emotions well.

As the piece suggest we are all actors. The stage is where those that watch the play can decide whether we are convincing or not. If you start out lying to yourself; playing the part just won't be right.
So our character has played long enough. No love and no way to keep up the act. The play is ending and she exits.
Going through the motions of total love and devotion, must be played by those who really feel that way.
Otherwise, Broadway is out of the question and so isn't the future.

Good job with this. The descriptions appeared to be something bad moving. Tears, falling and yelling could lead one to believe it might be a scene from a battle.

This is a sweet piece about a little girl who is loved. The description of her eyes and talking about her as a princess brings back so many memories of my daughter.
She may have a tiny little heart but her love for her mom is bigger than the a mountain.
As they grow, we moms, still look at them and see those little angel eyes that opened for the first time and said I love you.
Every day, there after those eyes will wrap around her heart and not let go.

After a break up, it is easy to think that you are a real looser. Also, you might think, why would any one love you again?
This piece gives us a wake up call.
That person left but you are still you. They choose to leave you. There are good things about you and don't let it get you to far down. After all, who left and who is missing out.
Who knows some talk might have saved things but the other person wasn't willing to invest the time. So who is the real winner here?
Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, start all over again. They are out there waiting for someone like you. Don't be down on yourself.
Think about it and realize it just might have been for the best.

Sure we all get down now and then. If you really think about it, we should feel blessed to see another year.
As this piece suggests; time has come and gone at a rapid pace. Still he holds a smile on his face.

Two friends in the same room. One happy and the other sad.
Why does the happy one feel guilty on such a sad day for the other.
What would you do?
Would you talk to the sad person and offer a listening heart. By listening, that won't take your joy away and it might even make you feel better.
Would you just walk off and leave the other person alone in their sadness?

The choices we make says a lot about our characters. Granted by listening you can't change anything but you were there for that sad person. Sometimes being there is worth more than one could know.

After all, wouldn't you want someone to be there for you?

Two kids are playing outside. The mom decides to check on them after an unusual sound.
One child is missing and the mom finds out the sister worked some magic on him.
Mom is a bit upset.
The little girl fixes things but the little boy changes back again on his own.

I remember that old show 'Bewitched'. When she had her daughter; she had to keep her under control to avoid problems like this.

To love someone and know they don't love you is hard to deal with.
All the time and wishing won't result in change.
With so much to offer and no one to give it to; our character feels hopeless.
Perhaps the other person is cold and illusive because of other relations ships that caused pain.
Our character could use this as an excuse for why it can't happen.
Who is the character really kidding?
Dreaming that impossible dream and shedding those invisible tears, are something that must be hidden from view.
If it should ever be a relationship it must be real and not from pity.

A woman drives upset at her husband. He tries to reason with her and make her slow down but she doesn't like what he is saying to her.
He is trying to make her stop living in a fantasy. He wants her to except that things have changed and will never be the same again.
The more he talks the angrier she gets. She can't let go.
She won't accept what he is saying or why he is saying it.
He knows she has to start to heal so she can go on.
She is confused.
Soon she is stopped by the cops and brought back to reality.

Ending caught me by surprise. Good job.

She knows he is just playing games with her heart. As a consequence she is depressed about it. She is empty inside and he was to be the one to fill it. As it turns out his words are worth no more than feathers on the breeze.
The more she holds back the anger the more she is about to blow up.
The sad part is she really loved him and he just played the part.
She should walk away but her heart won't let her.
He should walk away but he has it too good right now to leave.
