If I remember correctly, I spent a few days poking around the site and then finally posted something. I was soon hanging out and getting to know people. I started to find my way around and joined Scroll and other groups. It’s been a while so I don’t remember who influenced me when I first joined the site, plus a lot of them have now left.
But I have made a lot of great friends along the way over the years and done a lot of great things. I met Love is a Mommy (no foolin) ’s challenge to find "100 Great Things About Me" [E] and started more than one "Scrollies Snowball Fight!" [E]. I also entered multiple contests and groups. One of my favorite groups that I just joined recently is the "October NaNo Prep Challenge Group" [E]. Although I don’t participate in NaNo myself, I enjoy cheering my friends on and helping them reach their goals in October and November.
I used to be a member of a “family” on WDC and that group is still near and dear to my heart. Fire and Blood Machine , Mumsy's Goldilocks graduated! , Brandiwyn♪ . Dareng , ♥~HermyKitteh~♥ , and ⭐Princette♥Pengthulu are some of my closest friends both on and offline. In addition MontyB of House Stark and Kittiara have always been there with support and a helping hand. I’m so glad to see the return of Kittiara as I missed her when we both took a break from the site.
I don’t know that I’ve accomplished all I set out to when I joined the site. I joined the site for a writing community and I found that. A site where I can be myself and where I’ve found a welcoming group that allows me to share my writing as I try to decide what I want to do with my creations. I have yet to achieve my goal of actually publishing anything, but for the first year, I feel that is within reach. And I wouldn’t have been able to do that without this group and the people and contacts I’ve made here.
Without a doubt, Fire and Blood Machine inspires me the most. I hope that one day I’ll be as awesome as she is. I hope that by the end of this year, I’ll be published, but I know I have a long way to go before I reach that goal.
Writing.com has made a difference in my life by giving me a place where I could learn and grow as a writer while giving me a place where I can be myself. And all of that is why I WDC.
