BLUSHING BRIDE Dear Jennifer, So, I hear you’re going ahead with it? You’re going to stand at the altar and declare your undying love for him in front of all your family and friends. How can you even contemplate it, Jenny? I know it’s not what you want and even though I’m sure you’ll deny it, deep down you know it too. You can pretend for so long, but eventually your true feelings will overwhelm you and your life will fall apart. I beg you to reconsider now, before it’s too late. I’m still here; if you’ll just admit you’d rather be with me. Does he know about me? Have you told him about us? Knowing you as well as I do, I doubt it; you’ve always suffered from ostrich syndrome. Remember when I first approached you? How long it was before you’d accept there was something special between us? And we’re both aware it hasn’t gone away; it never will, no matter how hard you try to push me out of your mind. Please Jenny; don’t do this, it’s not too late. We were so good together; you’ll never find the same happiness and fulfilment with him. Do his eyes convey the all-consuming love that mine did? Do his lips make you tremble and forget everything but desire, as mine did? Does he hold you as tenderly, love you as passionately, satisfy you as completely as I did? I know it can’t possibly be; he cannot ever care for you as I did, and still will if you’ll give me the opportunity. Take a look in the mirror Jenny. No matter how beautiful you look in your wedding gown, with your long blonde mane swirled on top of your head, your pretty face made up to perfection, your delicate little feet nestling in satin shoes, you know you can never be the bride he longs for. You’ll fall short as a wife, you’ll disappoint him as a lover and though there may be children in the future, you’ll never be a devoted mother. I may not be in a position to marry you or provide you with a comfortable future, but our love would see us through, if you’ll just see sense. Can you honestly repeat those solemn wedding vows and believe them? Remember the minister will remind you those vows are made in front of God, who is judge of us all and knows all the secrets of our hearts. Well, I know your secrets too and I’m also positive I couldn’t trust myself not to declare I know a damned good reason why you should not lawfully marry him.
