An entry for the "Decayed Poetry Contest" with the theme of the end of summer. |
| A New Dawn The sun slides back into the sea Stars stretch out so endlessly Tiny fires out of reach Smile at embers on the beach. A memory of somewhere safe The crushing of a heart that aches; And now that I am back with friends I hope the summer never ends. Whiskey slides like liquid gold As secret worlds of dreams unfold, Water tumbles over stones In the place that I call home. Now darker times are laid to rest As friendships salvaged from the mess Blossom under summer’s skies Blotting out the tears I cried As August’s sun slides far away Into autumn’s first born day- Another chance for let's pretend Lies in wait at summer’s end. |
