A terzanelle of getting my palm read on vacation.
Ghosts gathered around the statue of Andrew Jackson.
A tattooed, cowboy hatted, gypsy named Dutch reads my palm.
A lazy New Orleans afternoon.

For three extra bucks,
I can tell you what to see in the city.
A tattooed cowboy hatted, gypsy named Dutch read my palm.

Dutch came down from Dane County, Wisconsin,
leaving a farm town to ply his trade in 1986.
I can tell you what to see in the city.

Fresh from high school with a head full of plans,
hands full of brochures and dreams,
leaving a farm town to ply his trade in 1986.

Dutch reads the valleys and ridges of my palm.
I trade my crumpled bills for
hands full of brochures and dreams.

In the shadows of tourist shops,
ghosts gathered around the statue of Andrew Jackson.
I trade my crumpled bills for
a lazy New Orleans afternoon.
