Dishonesty more fair than truth
Is oft by man preferred.
Tis foul and tasteless, ev'n uncooth
To speak the truer word.

For men are kind and know it not
And kindness never is forgot
Man feeds the hungry, cools the hot

And loves the truer word

How holy is this great mankind!

Whose love always sufficed
[Sin]
When man does so much for the blind
[SIN]
What need has he of Christ?
