Broken thoughts

A collection of short poems about uneasy thoughts during a difficult time...

1.

It's easy
To tell the world
Your heart:

It's normal
To meet those
Who don't want it,

It's heartbreaking
To love those
Who don't get it.


2.

Don't give me control
Over expectations you hold -
I won't be able to deliver
So be warned, you've been told.

Don't make me accountable
To uphold you in time of need:
I may forget to hold you
When your heart begins to bleed.

Don't make me responsible
For the breaking of your heart:
I am not the One to love you -
I told you from the start.


3.

I want to write,
(But my heart is too heavy),

I want to speak,
(But my lips are sealed),

I want to cry,
(But my eyes are too dry),

I want to hope,
(But I've no reason why).

Note from author: These pieces were written during a difficult time when I felt I did not have a voice and felt the expectations of others were too great. Number 3 is meant to express desire verses lost hope - comments on punctuation structure would be more than welcome.
