Freeverse... sorrow... being haunted by the memory of a loved one...
Reminiscence
By DT

I woke in the dead of night...
and just like before,
I can still hear that sound,
the melody that haunts me...

The sound of bells, of chimes...
The melody of a music box...
So slow, so gentle, so sad...
It reminds me of a ghost.

I miss her so much,
even after countless years,
her presence still lingers...
in the silence of my heart...

I long to see her,
so much that I can almost imagine...
that I am with her again,
together in a lost wink of time...

I can almost feel her,
the softness of her skin...
Her gentle arms,
holding me close...

I can almost see her,
her undying smile,
her soft-spoken eyes...
So beautiful, so silent, so sad...

I can almost hear her voice,
soft, sweet, and almost like an angel's...
Her laughter echoes in the void of my dreams...
and her song, my sweet lullaby, haunts me...

Her lullaby comforts me,
it calms my breath...
but fills my heart with pain
and my eyes with sorrow...

I long for her,
I long to feel her touch,
to see her smile,
to hear her voice...

But all that I can hear
are endless sighs
that come from my heart
and echo in the silence,

and the song,
the lullaby,
that haunts me...
