I cant write about war because
I’ve never been

There,
surrounded by decaying bodies of
innocents.
Your best friend
dying in some hole somewhere.

Vietnamese children crying for mommy --
Jewish babies starved and
left in a gutter.
Arab daughters wearing time bombs.

Civilian death, military
death.
It’s all the same anyway.
