The Sun in My Eyes

A poem about someone I thought I had lost for good but found recently.

The Sun in My Eyes

When I was little I just knew,
You were with me as I grew,
but as time passed I would call,
and It seemed like you weren't there at all.

My mom came to meet you at an early age,
and my life revolved around the rage,
mistakes I made and things I lost,
dreams were crushed and oh the cost.

My heart broke from the strain ,
of never feeling truest love again,
along the years I just forgot,
and didn't care.... a whole lot.

I worked through all dispair,
to find you just standing there,
not a word came but just a smile,
to let me know you'd been there all the while.

You were there behind the glass,
all I had to do was ask,
Through all the hurt and all the lies ,
you were the sunshine in this girls eyes.
