Painting from the soul

I am to find words to paint you
Before eyes that will never see
All the wonder you are
Have been
Will become.

Do I talk of eyes blue
With something behind them
That I can't quite see
Oh, how I would love to see
The wonder that they hold.

Or a voice that sends waves
Gently scintillating tremors
Coaxing that which
Was hidden from others
Dormancy shaken awake.

Of lips that can not kiss
But call to me anyway
Even when I try to ignore
I felt them soft and gentle
A sigh that escapes unbidden.

Your laughter brightens
And heightens
A soul that hungered for joy
Lost in the darkness of sorrow
Found in that full-throated sound.

Your arms that never have held me
Yet I feel them around me
Somehow keeping safe
Warm with a strength freely given
Yet allowing freedom to grow.

Paint a portrait of you using words
To put you in the world
For others to see is impossible
They can not see
Nor capture what I feel.
