A description of my FAVORITE thing to do.
Ice Skating
It all started one day when I went ice skating with my friend, Molly. I had decided to check out the lessons as we were walking out. I picked up a flyer for an awesome deal:, six-30 minute lessons, for at least six girls all for only 66 dollars. When I got home, I showed the flyer to my mom. She thought it was as pretty good deal but we didn’t end up pursuing it just then. The flyer just kind of got lost in Mom’s drawer. A couple months later we came across it again. My mom decided that we would give it a shot. So after getting six girls together, we started the class.
As soon as my lesson started, I knew that ice skating was “my sport”. Ice skating has a thrill to it which is beyond description. The wind blows in your face as you glide along quickly, your feet free to do what they like most. It fills me with so much joy, its hard to hold it in. Even the falls don’t bother me as long as my blades are touching the amazing ice.
I have made a couple friends at the rink. My first friend, Emma, has been skating for two years and is really good. She can do a waltz jump, a move where she digs her toe pick into the ice and flips the other foot around in a full rotation. She is working on her toe loop, the first actual jump and spin which you can do in single, double, triple, or quad rotation. Another friend is Stephanie, who has also been skating for two years. She is learning her axel, advanced jumps, which you can also do up to quad rotation.
Ice skating is the best sport in the whole darn world!!!!! Every week I look forward to going. Although I have only taken lessons for six weeks, I am obsessed. I would encourage everyone to ice skate so that they can experience the buzz I get when I step on that gorgeous, wonderful ice. Pure happiness.
