For the Lined Up contest - breakfast for the pigs
A cockerel's shout, stars fading overhead
The crack of dawn and hammer on her head
Blunts the tongue of my unlovely wife
It's breakfast time, the pigs need to be fed

The porkers clamour in the morning light
If one's left out the swine will surely fight
A hacksaw to make sure all get their share
The pigs line up and all will get a bite

Sun rises even further, amber tones
Over the fields and walls of dry-laid stones
The pigs are done and leave me with her head
Their bellies full with skin and flesh and bones

Yet the new day finds me unremorseful
To be a farmer one must be resourceful
I saved the tongue for me with fresh laid eggs
And cooked it up, a rare and tasty morsel

Day brightens still further, farm awakes
I take the skull and throw it in the lake
Without that dreadful woman it's serene
I'd taken all a man should have to take

Oh that monstrous porker, old and sly
The King Pig fixes me with beady eye
To let me know that with one trip or slip
I'll be tomorrow's breakfast in the sty

It seems that with my bloody morning treat
The pigs acquired a taste for human meat
Next morning, sound of trotters on the stairs
It's breakfast time, and hungry pigs must eat
