| Blindfolded they led me Through dark twists and turns Into their secret lair, There, the blindfold removed In candles dim light, I could only stare. Who were these people With masks so strange, And bat's nests in their hair? Why have they bound me In ropes of silk And led me helplessly here? The League of Poets They call themselves, “We’re here to help,” they say, “Newbie poets, Oldies too, a muse Lost along the way; Their works of poetry We’ll review, and Give awards away. We love to read Poetry, we love to write, We love the neat buffet.” “Oh, let me go, Please be kind, I need the light of day; I’ll do anything you ask, I’ll send gift points someday.” Their attention I Had captured, My Bonds they quickly loosed. I took one last look Around, and from their Lair I vamoosed. Will you join them In their lair? Its up to you to choose. Written March 10th, 2006 for the League of Poets Theme Contest |
