Turtle shells and knickknacks;
respecters of nature, or lovers of things?
Pretenders took our red souls,
set them on shelves
all dressed up in plastic buckskins
and nylon hair.
As time passes, and without any cares,
the novelty shelf wears
collected dust and Spider's lace.
But Native People know Earth Mother,
and the Trickster's clever pace.
In time without a stutter, and forever,
what is real and what lacks;
Turtle shells, or knickknacks?
