He Forgot

Inspired by a story I read on child abuse...

He forgot to feed the dogs today
So he went without food.
He forgot that his father
Was in a bad mood.

He forgot to pick his bike up
Out of the front yard.
He forgot that his father
Would punish him hard.

He forgot not to cry
So he felt a fatal blow.
He forgot everything
Except how to go.

He forgot to say I love you
Before he went away.
He forgot that his mother
Needed him to stay.

But...

He forgot all his troubles
When he saw your Holy face.
Thank you Lord, for not forgetting
To save my son a place.
