Parody of Tom Smith's Mand(e)la
I saw a pila flying, shining in the sun.
It plunged into a celts chest, and steel and blood were one.
I had not seen it earlier, the time, it had not come,
But now I see those pilum, killing everyone.
And the beauty of those pilum was something to behold,
As if Mars made a shaft handle of newly minted gold.

(chorus)
Life to the legion (Life to the legion),
Love to the legion (Love to the legion),
Shine, my pila, shine.
Life to the legion (Life to the legion),
Love to the legion (Love to the legion),
Shine, my pila, shine.
And the commander says,
Iace! (Iace!)
Iace! (Iace!)
Shine, my pila, shine.

I saw a clean shield gleaming, shining in the sun,
With thirty hundred celts, no clothes on anyone.
I hadn't seen it earlier, for blood had dried on dark,
But now the blood has flaked away, and now I see the spark.
And the beauty of that shield was something fine and tall,
The colors of the rainbow, now hanging on my wall.

(chorus)
Life to the legion....

I heard a people screaming, crying in the sun,
Thirty hundred voices that sounded all as one.
I hadn't heard them earlier, the drums were all too loud,
But now the drums are broken, and the celts are all cowed.
And the pain of those people is calling out to me.
Now hear the joy inside them, as I set them all free.

(chorus)
Life to the legion....

I saw an old man smiling, sitting in the sun.
I drove my sword straight through him, the two of them were one.
He hadn't seen it coming, I now have the prize,
And I will screw his daughter until the new sunrise.

(chorus)
Life to the legion....
