Don’t hurt me again, cheat on me like before
I’ve become stronger, feel no need to settle the score
I know she wasn’t all you said she was when you left me for her
Knew that one day you’d come back to me, that your life was in a blur
All I’m asking of you is that you don’t hurt me again
I need more than a lover, I need you as a friend
Everyone makes mistakes, and I chose to forgive
But in a cheater’s world is one place I don’t intend to live
Don’t hurt me again, the pain was too intense
My heart was broken then, the price for your debauchery immense
I shot for the stars, and thought there I’d found you
Only to discover that what we shared wasn’t true
So don’t hurt me again, for the memories aren’t easily erased
The doubts overwhelming, although my love for you could not be replaced
I pray I’ll never have reason to distrust you again
Hope with all I am, that I’m finally free of that pain
