A POEM OF AN ATROCITY |
Working late one evening and heading for her car, Wishing she had not parked so very far Suddenly she heard a noise coming from behind, And tried to get into her vehicle, but couldn’t do so in time Give her back to me! I had always warned her to use caution when she left, But she could never have imagined it, never would have guessed, That evil would follow her as she left work that dreadful night, One that would prove too forceful for my precious daughter to fight Give her back to me! She was found by her car, all battered up and mangled A passerby rushing to assist her before she could be strangled As I gaze at my precious daughter lying in the hospital bed, I thank God Almighty that the good Samaritan reached her before she was dead Give her back to me! Now she’s home again, but we took her to work for fear That danger still lurks, awaiting to reappear My darling daughter’s life has never been the same I only hope in time that all of this does change Give her back to me! |
