a man is bullied by his father and passes on the hate...can we help?
abandoned, worry, hurt
you're stripped of your self-worth
the one's who claimed they cared
have left you with your fears

rocking back and forth
singing songs of better days
your heart is bruised and torn
cuz no one's here today

and now it is tomorrow
you roam the stormy clouds
you cry "this is for sorrow!"
as you run another down

another little boy
a happy sad victim
a chance for you to toy
with emotions given him

you think you have the right
call it justified pain
call it what you might
but to him it's all the same

you attack him with your words
you tear apart his soul
because they all hate you
so you must hate them all

you grow up old and bitter
the memories sting your mind
your eyes as cold as winter
from the one's you left behind

but part of you is hurting
regrets possess your head
your cold eyes start their melting
down your cheek from what's been said

and then suddenly you see
while sitting there in your cell
you're who you said you'd never be
your gun had a story to tell

now you pay for it daily
no light peeks through the bars
and you resort to blaming
the one's who left you scars

but your victim's hurt now
and he's part of hatred's game
and he hurt's others, somehow
the vicious cycle stays the same

but i guess i could help
reach out to silent cries
help carry the pain they've felt
and throw down my selfish pride

would it have stopped the man with the gun?
would it have stopped the boy with the rage?
i can't erase what's done
but life's meant to be looking for ways

to take a hand
speak up
show love to them
stand up

to you i say, "look at him!"
his love for you is none
the one you helped to spin
into your father, you, now son

you say that you hate everything
say you want it all to end
don't realize that you love one thing
you love the hate within
