Advice to a Young Poet

Embrace your demons,
collude with and coddle
dragons simmering underground.

Drink the wine made before Adam.
Avoid relief and carbonated calm.
Justify the ragged margins of the universe.

Beware a polished surface.
Microscopic needle burrs
prick a dream alive.
