a poem written when problems arose between me and my girlfriend and our "talk" of sorts. |
| The Strength of a Wall We stood looking over the city in the night, a city filled with small, twinkling lights in the far-off, foggy distance. Our hearts pounded violently against the wall that held us from falling ten feet into a withered garden overgrown with weeds. We shared sorrow and disappointment. Conjectures kept us apart. Our shadow was sprawled on the ground in front of ourselves, the reflections of our emotions spread out on the green grass. I could hear your breath just as easily as I could hear mine. There was more breathing than talking. There was more looking than breathing. Words were seldom, but deep. But fair. Tears fell as our breath dissipated into the air. |
