CANDY APPLES

By: Rusty Cason

When I was a child, I went to the fair.

That aroma I longed for would always be there.

Soft, sticky candy, my gooey delight.

It's richly red color reflected the light.

With my face on the glass, I watched it begin.

Down went the apple and then came a spin.

With eye all a glow and that grin on my face,

I'd stick out my tongue to have the first taste.

I go with my grandkids now, off to the fair.

They think I like rides, but you know why I'm there.

Candy apples!
