Dearest Gretchen,

At the beginning our friendship was awkward and you were guarded. But through the days you’ve protected me and saved me from harm. Your outpouring of care and kindness is amazing and comforting.

When I see your image enter the room I fill with joy, when you acknowledge me I understand my existence.

Your sincere support has inspired me to face tremendous challenges. I wish I had a fraction of your fortitude.
