No Longer

What happens when two lovers die?

and as our days grow
longer
our life together becomes
shorter

each second that passes
can never be returned
and it will one day
be over

and we won’t see each other
again
and we won’t hear each other’s
voices
again
and our hearts will cease
to beat together
and we won’t hold hands
and we won’t kiss
and we won’t hug
and we won’t see each other
again

we think we have it good
with longer days

but nothing is as good
as it seems.
