Depression

Deepest, darkest depths swallow me whole,
Nowhere to run, nowhere to go.
Minutes to hours to days to years,
Living in darkness with no way out.
Easing the pain brings shades of grey,
One cannot survive on slivers of light.
Where is the sunshine I was promised?
Where is the happiness I was promised?
They all lied and now it's dark.
Surrounding and suffocationg,
It's all around.
Where is the life I was promised?
