This is a free verse poem which tells how a poem receives life.
A butterfly does not marvel
at its own beauty,
nor does it question why it draws
its strength from its fragility
or if a higher power called it into being.
Emerging from deep within
the cocoon of the poet's heart,
a poem is transformed into words
by blood and muscle,
seeking to extend its life
by connecting with human eyes,
by being invited into the heart.
