A poem on how love can change the way you see things

I’ve never been smart and social
I got good grades and am shy
I never knew how to talk
I can only write

They say I’m a good girl
The nerd in the corner
That I am selfish
I’m easily overlooked.

Not in your eyes
I don’t have to be perfect
Not in your heart
I am perfect already

When you are there, I feel beautiful
Smart and wanted,
You make life worth it
I bask in your love

I lost every friendship
Too stupid to see what I had
I lost every self esteemed
Not that I had any to start with.

They say I’m a good girl
They don’t know me
The one who is overlooked
The one who isn’t there

It wasn’t the case with you
Through skittles and water
You saw the real me
The one who cares

Never in your eyes
Was I less than what I am
Never in your heart
Have I felt unloved
