Hopelessness and despair

I try to breathe
but feel as if I'm dying
Battered, broken and bruised
My soul ever crying

Aching with hopelessness
That fills me up inside
It’s so dark around me
I want to run and hide

Heart racing in my chest
With every beat is pain
Slowly breaking apart
It's never whole again

Shadows overtake me
I slowly fade away
I'm helpless against it
Despair is here to stay
